Title: My First I-Game with 4 GME Chips
Post by: jdkmunch on September 27, 2010, 06:30:12 PM
I just picked up snow globes - my first game that has 5 simms and 4 gme chips.   Where do they go?? lol

The chips are labeled gme1 2, 3, 4 etc... but the board only has gme1 and 2 then pixel1 and pixel2 and then 4 audio sockets.

All my other games only have two gme chips.

Thanks-  that's what I thought.

I still can't get it to boot.  Maybe it's because I'm using the adapter board on a 044 platform.

Maybe the reference designators (Uxx) do not match directly on the 3902 and the legacy adapter board. I will look when I am at my machine later. From memory though I think that it goes like below, but that needs to be verified.
GME1 - GME1
GME2 - GME2
GME3 - PXL1
GME4 - PXL2

Please post the Program Numbers of your chips and simms, and maybe a Picture of your 044 MPU board... It may be possible that you have "International" software, and a US MPU???

Sorry I can't help you with that one.  I haven't graduated to the big league yet (044)  :25-  What the Capt says though.

Do you have the boot eprom on the daughter board? Is the game american or international? International only works on the international board and not the american.

I just put hex back in the adapter board and it booted right up.

Not to be a smart *** But all the dips on the simms are in the correct positions? The eproms are not corrupt? They were the correct numbers for the game as checked in the attachment I uploaded.

Actually that's a really good question about the dip switches.  Does anyone know what they are supposed to be?

I purchased anti-static sleeves and they fit around the simms snug -  A dip may have been changed going into the bag.

Are the dip switches the same for all games?

Yes they are the same on as each games 1,2,3,4,5. So just check them against hexbraker.

On the 044 legacy adapter board you use GAME 1(GME1) and GAME 2 (GME2), and SS/PIXEL1 (GME3) and SS/PIXEL2 (GME4).

Sorry to bump a year old post, but when a game has 4 GME chips, does it still have c chips in CG1 and CG2?
