God, I hate to see those prices...

The Vegas place is going for roughly one half of the DOWN PAYMENT on a similar house around here.

The Texas place is going for the price of a 4 or 5 bedroom ranch style 60 year old house on a 7500 sq. ft. lot around here.

I think I'm going to be sick... :40-

The Texas one is beautiful.

What am I missing about the Vegas one, though?  $83,000 for a 1200 sq. ft. house with no lot in North Las Vegas.  That doesn't seem awful, but I guess it doesn't seem like a steal to me, either?  I'd have to defer to Kirk, but I know that not all of NLV is in that great of an area.

Nevada (Vegas in particular) has the highest forecloseure rate in the US. Lots of deals to be had.

This makes me wonder why City Center hasn't lowered its prices.
I have been considering buying a condo there as I am sure the market will recover over time.

I wish I had time to buy something like that before my wife becomes in a motherly way.

The thing for me is the airfare -  could be as much as pp each way to get to vegas from here.   :37-

Believe me, if I could move to Texas and afford that puppy, I'd already be there! :37-    I'd have the biggest damn gameroom you could imagine! :89- :71- :5- :200-

I looked at a 1200 sq ft home on a 2600 sq ft lot ( only 38 years old) this weekend, $599,900. It would need to be tented and there's about $10k of repairs needed, but overall in good shape, and that's reasonable around here.  :25- :25- :25-

We just bought a repo home from HUD here in Moapa Valley. The Valley is 60 miles northeast of Vegas on I-15.
1/2 acre lot with block wall, a 2400sqft home built in 2003. Two car garage, three bedroom, fireplace, etc.
Didn't steal it but got what I thought was a decent deal. It was repo'd for $326,000 and we paid a little over two for it.
Of course we took a hit on our home back in Mich so considered it all a wash.

Vegas is a great place to visit, but I don't want to live there.
