Title: Error Code 67 - Comes back each time powered up..??
Post by: Johnny K on October 05, 2010, 12:18:41 AM
Just put a new coin comparitor in last week..

Played an hour or so.. turned off.. now when I fire it up I get the 67 Error.. then clear it, etc.. and it plays fine.

Can unplug and plug it back in right away and it's fine, but if it stays unplugged for a little time, I get the 67 again..

Any clues?

It's an Slant top S+.

Thanks,

JK

Thats a data chip error (reel chip) have you changed chips? If not try reseating the chip ,check for broken connectors in the chip socket. ect If all else fails try another chip if you have one.

...and for kicks, if you have a meter and can test it, check the voltage of the battery.  You're not getting a 12 error (low battery), but it's suspect that the machine is forgetting something when it's powered off.

I suspect it could be the battery, on it's way out.  Machine hasn't been moved and has worked error free for at least a year since I switched games..  I'll check out the chip and the battery.

Thanks!

Battery shows 3.702 volts (printed 3.6 on it)..

Pulled reel chip, looks OK.. as well as the socket..

I'll turn it off for a while, see if error shows again...good news is I have a lower % reel chip that I can put in if the current one is the culprit.

What chip is in there?

4926, it's a 2 coin, 95% for Cats & Dogs

I just fired it up, got the 67, swapped out with my 92% chip and we'll leave it off for a while and see what it shows when I plug it in again.

Thanks,

JK

If the CMOS chip is socket-ed, pull it out, check the pins and re-install it.
Sometimes pulling and installing rubs some of the junk off the legs and gets a newer, better connection.
The CMOS chip is supposed to retain some of your settings - if the legs get oxidized,
it may not be getting enough juice from the battery to retain it's settings.

I doubt if this is the problem but it won't hurt to pull and install - providing you don't bend the legs re-installing.

Yep, I pulled it out and reinstalled and got the same error.  I have the puller to not mess the legs up..  I fired it up with the 92% chip and it's fine, I'll let it sit a day and then try it tomorrow.. If it's cool , then I'll just have to get another 95% chip programmed (as I'd rather win more..lol).

Thanks for all the help.  We'll report back tomorrow.

We'll after about 20 hours of being off, it fires up fine.. I'll assume chip was bad.

Thanks for all the help!!!

Thanks for posting a follow-up.  Glad to know that it's going to be a pretty simple fix!
