Title: IGT S hopper payout speed Post by: russdx on October 06, 2010, 04:09:17 PM Hi
I have a hopper from a old IGT s (i think) http://www.chicagoslots.com/modern/rwb.jpg (http://www.chicagoslots.com/modern/rwb.jpg) << this machine and cabinet the machine is not working as i have stripped it down. I have had the hopper running on my workbench by just supplying it with 120v but it seams very slow? as in it seams to payout at a rate of like 2-3 coins a second. When i would of thought it would really shoot them out Im from the uk, not sure if it was converted to run on 250v or not. but the motor on the hopper says 120v 17w are the hoppers just this slow from these older machines? any help much appreciated Thanks Title: Re: IGT S hopper payout speed Post by: knagl on October 06, 2010, 06:18:10 PM 2-3 coins per second sounds about right to me.
It's tough to tell from the outside if that's an S or an early S+ -- we'd need to see a picture of the MPU board connection inside the machine to determine which model it is. Regardless, that payout rate doesn't seem excessively slow to me. just thought they would payout alot faster seeing as it looks like it could hold like 2000 quarters, would take a while to pay them all out from a large jackpot Title: Re: IGT S hopper payout speed Post by: brichter on October 07, 2010, 02:00:29 PM ah i c, ill take a video this weekend just to confirm hehe just thought they would payout alot faster seeing as it looks like it could hold like 2000 quarters, would take a while to pay them all out from a large jackpot The games are not set up to pay out a full hopper load of quarters, the jackpot payout limit is usually set to only 1000 or 600 coins (depending on denomination), anything larger would go to handpay. Title: Re: IGT S hopper payout speed Post by: russdx on October 07, 2010, 02:23:31 PM i see, how long do these machines take to payout 600 coins on average?
Thanks Title: Re: IGT S hopper payout speed Post by: TZtech on October 07, 2010, 02:28:31 PM Hi
Sounds about right - Bear in mind that you are on 50Hz (?) so it may be slightly slower than US (60Hz). All the internal components work on 110 even if you have 220 power. Basically there is a tap on the transformer where you selects between 220 and 110 but internally everything runs at 110V. Just for you buddy...I installed a "Montana Credits" SP chip and shoved in 600 U.S. Quarters... (It took me almost ten minutes to put all those bloody Quarters in....lol) Pay no attention to the denomination sticker...it's an old one I had just for looks. Results later after either : 1] All the credits/coins get dumped into the coin tray. 2] The hopper knife gets jammed. 3] The motor burns out. Stayed tuned! My watch is ticking..lol :79- I hit the cash-out button at 1:16:00 E.S.T. Yes! The S+ paid out all 600 Quarters perfectly! I timed 600 coins in 1 minute and 45 seconds. Catch you later, my candy apple is melting in my hands...lol>>> Title: Re: IGT S hopper payout speed Post by: russdx on October 07, 2010, 03:41:09 PM wow, thanks for doing that :) i will also payout 600 coins on my hopper and time it :) (at the weekend as im at work right now hehe)
thanks again :) Title: Re: IGT S hopper payout speed Post by: knagl on October 07, 2010, 03:44:17 PM If I'm doing the math correctly, that would make Bunker's test payout equal to 5.7 coins per second.
I'll be interested to see your results, Russ. Something I just thought of -- what size coins are you using? If you're using large tokens, they'll take longer to spit out. Title: Re: IGT S hopper payout speed Post by: stayouttadabunker on October 07, 2010, 03:48:20 PM I have much faster hopper... :79-
Probably spits out coins about 10x that speed... :200- The motor was way, waaayyy too fast... There was something wrong with it...it would bend hopper knifes into pretzels. :97- Title: Re: IGT S hopper payout speed Post by: russdx on October 07, 2010, 03:59:13 PM im using some custom made 'jpm' gaming tokens (size of a uk 10p, so sort of same size as a quarter)
im powering it using a 250v to 120v transformer my dad had to run our old American christmas lights (haha). i did not realise i could put 250v into the original slot transformer and tap off 120v. Iv now removed all the wires from the transformer DOH, (im guessing i just need the wiring on the right hand side of the transformer) would any one have a diagram of how i wire it back up, putting 250v in and getting the 120v out (ill then use this transformer to power my hopper) thanks :) Title: Re: IGT S hopper payout speed Post by: stayouttadabunker on October 07, 2010, 04:27:14 PM You pulled off all the tab wires from without writing down anything?
You must have very good visual memory.... :97- Expect all the lights to blow up too... You better read this. Click on it to make larger...>>> Title: Re: IGT S hopper payout speed Post by: knagl on October 07, 2010, 05:57:26 PM Russ-

and I can never find that thread... :60- I remember taking really good pictures too of the buss bar on the floor of the power supply box showing what to do that purple wire. :89- I must of looked for it about almost an @#&!% hour today. :58- :37- :8- My problem is I have so many useless posts as well... :72- Title: Re: IGT S hopper payout speed Post by: brichter on October 08, 2010, 01:46:53 AM Quarters will pay out faster, as the diameter is smaller so the wheel holds more of them. Same RPM, more coins per revolution.

Done. :71- :31- Title: Re: IGT S hopper payout speed Post by: russdx on October 08, 2010, 06:45:17 AM hehe,
Im not restoring my machine or trying to get it to work again, but using the cabinet and parts to build my own custom slot :) (dint know at the time the transformer could take 250v so just took it all out ooopsy lol) thanks for that info guys very useful, ill wire it back up to be my 120v rail for the hopper and tube lighting :) Title: Re: IGT S hopper payout speed Post by: russdx on October 09, 2010, 03:42:57 PM sweet got it working cool
takes about 1min to payout 300 coins :) Title: Re: IGT S hopper payout speed Post by: stayouttadabunker on October 10, 2010, 02:16:08 AM And you had me shove in 600 coins for the test!
No Fair!!! :72- Title: Re: IGT S hopper payout speed Post by: russdx on October 10, 2010, 10:42:16 AM hehehe, i only had 302 coins :(, need to get some more hehe
