Hello all!

Can someone verify for me that the Door Optics are the same between a S2000 and S+?

I am still having an issue on my S2000 machine where it "thinks" the door has been opened and closed if I bump the front of the machine.  I have replaced both the send/receive optics but still have the same issue - not sure if optics were from a S2000 or S+.

If they are the same, anyone else have any other suggestions?  I have tried to line them up a hundred times but can't seem to get it right.

I just swapped the S+ optics to the S2000 and they work fine.
In fact the connectors for them have the same IGT part numbers just different date codes.

Possible causes:
Optic alignment  I don't think they have to be perfect but close.
Loose connection in the optic wiring.
Optional belly door switch or jumper if no switch may be the issue.

hi dan...  sometimes it happen that the whole moving mechanism in the door system is loos enough for it to move laterally when you "bump" the machine as you said...  remember that one of the optics is mounted in that moving plate.

not sure if that one is your problem, but i would check it from a mechanical point of view before put hands on electroncis. can't asure if optics are the same as in s+

If the cabinet is not sitting perfectly flat the cabinet is so weak on the S-2000 it will get out of rack and the handle can be down on the door and be off enough that pulling the handle or moving the door will break the beam, the easiest way to align the optics is to use a square on the side and mark both the cabinet and door side with either a mark or tape at the center of the optic and close the door and see, if you can move the cabinet on the surface it is sitting I guarantee the cabinet is flexing, also make sure if the game has a printer to the right of the reels that the shelf is tight and the small bracket the optic is mounted to is mounted correctly, if you can wiggle the lock bar pin while the reels spin and game gets a general reel tilt the problem is there

Thought I would post a follow up on this one.  After swapping optics, checking wires and pulling out my hair...by total accident, I realized the problem was not the optics.  It was the switch on the belly glass door.  It would take me 3-4 times to get the door closed right before the machine thought the door was closed.  And then sometimes when I would bump the front of the machine, it would think the door had opened.  I just assumed it was the optics.  Well, all it took was bending the bracket down a little on the belly door switch and all the door problems have gone away!  Thank god!  It was starting to drive me nuts.  I almost wish IGT would have separated all the door switches so you could tell which one was the problem...lesson learned :)  Only took me almost two months to figure out...

I have also seen a few 2000's that I've had to put a spacer behind the optics located on the cabinet to clear up intermittent optics operation and get them to align okay. Usually a piece of card board works okay. Just something to try if al else seems to not work.

In my quest, I had tried that too - putting washers behind the optics mount on the cabinet side.  I found that if you take the bill acceptor out and open the belly door - you can see the optics and how they are aligning with the door shut pretty good.  Now that I figured out the belly door switch - those washers have been removed and all works as it should in factory fashion.
