What's the denomination of your machine and how many credits do you get per coin dropped?
Why?
Because if you set your denomination for a penny and you're dropping $20 bills into the bill acceptor...
the coin-in meter will be ticking for the rest of your life.  :97-

You better clear the machine and make sure your settings are right.

There is a way to do this on most IGT machines, I just can't find my post to reference for you! :25-

Basically all you have to do is disconnect the meter plug and put a small wire jumper wire in the last two pins, 9 & 10 I think.... black/orange & brown/grey I seem to remember. I can verify later. Just jumper and cover with electrical tape and enjoy the silence!

I was going to do this but then lucky my meter died!!!

It always amazed me that in the casino I never heard a single meter but in the house they sound like a mac truck.

Why Stat :31- , that would be IGT's OFFICIAL PART NUMBER TAG! :5- Yup, it looks like IGT doesn't like the runaway meter sound either!

That was the point of my satirical response!  :30- :5-  Not only do they have an official "fix" for the problem, they seem to have gone as far as to assign a part number to a piece of wire. :127-

Personally, I like JDKMunch's idea of tube socks in the coin tray... :96-
what... maybe a grand total of $6.99 for a pair of extra thick tube socks at Walwart's?   :72-

I put one of these in mine...works great! >>>

http://cgi.ebay.com/LCD-Coin-Meter-Dual-7-Digits-Counter-Arcade-Slot-Mech_W0QQitemZ190503758738QQcategoryZ13718QQcmdZViewItem (http://cgi.ebay.com/LCD-Coin-Meter-Dual-7-Digits-Counter-Arcade-Slot-Mech_W0QQitemZ190503758738QQcategoryZ13718QQcmdZViewItem)

It's an LCD resettable digital counter that can handle
the coin-in and the coin-out meter signals no problem.
With "A" handling the Coin-In signals and "B" being the Coin-Out counter.

Look for the "resettable" version...costs about $1 more...lol
All it is a a button with some metal molded into a piece of rubber
which opens the power circuit to zero out the meters.
You can zero out the meter every time you play!

Simple to hook up, 4 wires.
1 Power 4.5 to 13Vdc
2 GND
3 Coin-in Vb
4 Coin-out Vb

Why use meters at all? It was used by a casino to take "hard counts" of machines but in a home environment why? You can access the stats in the menus of the S2000 if you really want to know  stats. Something similar is used by Pachislo enthusiasts , it is called a Battle Counter and you can roughly determine the pachislo's payback % based on this  http://www.pachistat.com/
