Title: S2000 problem getting multimedia enhanced sound
Post by: rslots on October 27, 2010, 01:50:05 AM
Read through many threads but couldn't find answer to this particular situation. Have MML board in two different machines with DSV42 installed.  Only menu choices under multimedia are "stereo" and "mono", no enhanced option.  Any ideas.  Using SG000363 in both cases but not sure that the GME chips should make a difference.  Otherwise using SB100927 (Triple Red Hot 7s) and SB100781 (Dbl 3X4X5X pay).  Version ship is VS011GX1 in both cases.  Any help is appreciated.  These are my first S2000s.

It's been told if you don't have multimedia options then your base chip doesn't support it

I think you might have one more problem SB100927 is Triple Butter Fly 7s ( 5 reel )    I have Triple Red Hot 7s   5 line ( 3 reel ) it takes SB100208  also have Triple Double Red Hot 7s ( 3 reel ) SB100925

When you set the enhanced sound, it's a couple of clicks ( cash out button ) below multimedia, I think it's something like reel sounds, I'm not sure the exact term. Just go into each one and look around that's how I found it.  Wish I could be more help.   :5- :5-

Those base chips don't provide enhanced sounds other than Stereo and the "DINGS" for hitting symbols in the jackpot.  In other words that's normal for those games.

This is the game kit for the Triple Red Hot 7s
SB100927 5 reel - 9 paylines
SG000598
VS011GX1
DSV00042

If either your mm2 board or simm card is not fully seated, dirty, or one is bad - it will not give you the multimedia options in the sound options menu.
Try swapping the mm2 boards and the simm cards and see if it makes a difference if you have not tried this already.
This game is compatible with the enhanced sound and the sg000363 chips you are using should not make a difference.

Thanks for the feedback.  I have removed and replaced the MML board several times as well as the SIMM with no effect in one of the machines (3X4X5X pay).  I will try it on the red Hot 7s.  Since I can get all kinds of enhanced sounds in I/O test mode from the multimedia card I assumed is must be connected & working OK but for some reason I am just not getting the option available in the set up menu to implement this feature.  Seems like a waste to even have the MML & DSV42 installed an not be able to use it.  The Triple Red Hot 7s is a 5R9L180CM game.  I guess I should try another base chip to see if that does it.  I think Triple Butterfly 7s and Triple Red Hot 7s use the same chips.

You are wasting your time.  Contrary to what Luckystrike is saying you will not get enhanced sounds with those base chips.

Ok, So for some games there is no enhanced sound option available even with the MML board and the right SIMM installed?  Wonder why IGT bothers to even have a sound SIMM as part of the configuration.  Hardley seems worth the expense.

Try looking here for a possible solution that I found for my Triple Butterfly Sevens. Try using a different Base Chip with a lower max coins bet. The sounds were most likely a victim to the code for the larger paytable payouts, or some other casino/accounting related functions by IGT. It is NOT related to the Game Chips at all. (Yours is the same base game theme, just a clone with different artwork.)....

CaptainHappy :95-

Kevin, when you get your DSV00051 SIMM (which is what I have on mine), I'll be curious to see if our sound options differ.  I took a look at Bunker's attachment (thanks btw Mark...very helpful) and I went into 4.4.2 MMLB Sound and in that menu there are a boat load of sounds that you can run through...kinda cool.  This must be the area where all Big Times versions of sound wav files are pulled from the SIMM.

When I went back into the 3.2.6 Multimedia section, I don't have the following: (which REALLY sucks because I like the (Generic - universal  stereo melody) as played in 4.4.2 MMLB Sound!!!!)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3.2.6.4 Reel Spin Option: This submenu determines the sound made while
the reels spin. Some paytables may restrict the options to Enhanced Only,
Generic and Enhanced, or S-Plus Legacy only.
• Generic (universal stereo melody)
• Enhanced (one or more enhanced stereo melodies)
• S-Plus Legacy (S-Plus random notes)
NOTE: To play the S-Plus Legacy reel spin sounds and to view the Legacy sound
options, the appropriate DSVxxxxx must be installed on the multimedia lite board.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I also don't have a 3.2.5 Roll Up sounds section either.

Just out of curiosity to the masses, would a newer version game board or performing a clear chip procedure unlock any of these options or is it a matter of certain game limitations?

Jason

Jason,

I ran into that issue about sounds and it is very dependent upon the Base chip for your game, not your actual board or clear chipping. :8-

Where I ran into this was a five reel Triple Butterfly sevens 180 coin machine. I found that playing a clone of that game that was a 90 coin machine there were many more melodies played during reel spin. I changed the Base chip on my machine to the 90 credit version and set it up and was pleased to see the option for more melodies!!! :89- I was happy then! :71- :89- :71-

CH :95-

I discussed it here as well..............
I also have the DVS00043 sound simm in mine. When I get the 5 scarab beatles she says "the treasures of Egypt are yours". She also talks every time I win more than I bet. Only differance between our machines that I can see is that mines a 45 coin where yours is a 90. Although the 90 coin machines I've played in Deadwood, SD have more sounds that I've been told only the 90 coin chipsets use. Maybe one of the gurus on here can explain this for us. Damn nice machine though, CONGRADULATIONS!!! on your acquisition.

Although my example may go in the opposite direction of what you have mentioned, I can say for sure that the different Base chips sometimes do have different sounds available. Here is my example:

I got a Triple Butterfly Sevens 5 Reel machine that was set for 180 coins max bet... I had been playing a clone of that title and we were noticing that the reel spin sounds were different... I discovered that the 90 coin version of the same game has an added option in the setup for multimedia reel spin sounds or something like that, but that option was not even present in the 180 coin version. On these 5 reel machines it is very easy to change from 180 to 90 coins, etc.. All you have to do is change the base chip and re-setup the machine. Then you have to change one or two or the button legends, changes the top award amount sticker, and change the play x coins sticker in the reel glass and away you go!!! No need to change glass!

I did this on my machine and now there are something like 6-7+ reel spin songs that play different each spin.

In this case I think that it may have been a space issue in the Base chip, as I could not think of a logical reason to dump the added reel spin sounds. Maybe the added coin information on the bigger paytable required more space than was available, so they had to get rid of something???

Just my experience to share...

I loved the Cleo sounds on the machine that I heard!

I just checked, and I am using SB100497 and it has great sounds. Maybe this will work for you! :89- :71- :89-

Also I am using SG000312.

That is the right SIMM, check that the following options are set on your machine and you should be fine unless you have a piece of defective hardware. I would also guess that you are using SB100497, correct?

3.2.2 REEL SPIN SOUND: ON
3.2.5 ROLLUP SOUND: ROLLUP MELODY

In 3.2.6... Multimedia you will only have options for MODE: Stereo or Mono, ATTRACT TIME, and ATTRACT VOLUME

Hope that this helps!

Skipper  It's looking to me that  Triple Butter Fly 7s, Triple Lucky 7s, and Triple Red Hot 7s (all 5 reel )  are all the same game.  The short time I had Triple Lucky 7s I backed up the files and I have a SB100497. Ashyron got the 3  5 reel machines I had, so I can't test SB100497 for enhanced sound.  :58- :58- :58-

Buzz,

YES, they are all clone games, other than the graphics, all else is equal!

No need to test anything as I am trying to tell people that it works, :89- and I showed what my settings are... It may be confusing for people that in this configuration the options are NOT UNDER 3.2.6.x MULTIMEDIA maybe? I am sure that they will be fine if they get a chance to test these settings and this base chip.

All I know is that I get many different reel spin sounds in this configuration, and all I changed was going from the SB100927 to the SB100497.... 180 coin max bet to the 90 coin max bet! :71- This did not work on the SB100927, and the option was not even in the menu! Blame IGT for ruining a good thing... All I have to say is I could care less about the max bet number of coins, I like the variety of the darn melodies when the reels spin! :88-

I think that BUZZ needs a 5 reeler to f@#% with! :72- :97- :96- :88-

OK This is the latest.  Starting to piece this puzzle together.  I just tried a different stepper base (only change made).  Changed from the SB100927 (180 Coin) to a SB100496 (45 coin - I believe) and still do not get any other options under Multimedia menu, Audio mode except for Stereo or Mono.  Still no option for "Enhanced" but I do now get cool melodies or tones for spinning reels and winning symbols.  Sounds great.  So although all the selections in the sound menu remained the same (Mode, reel spin sound, roll up sound, stop sound etc..), the game now has enhanced sound.  Who would have thought that IGT would trade off more coins played for enhanced sound (if that is what they did).  Don't know why they didn't include the better sound capability on the 180 coin chip.   This machine is right off the casino floor and had the MML and sound SIMM installed and only played legacy sounds (like S+).  What a waste.  Learning a lot about these S2000s.  So have validated that the base chip is the key but still don't know why or how to predict what will or will not allow enahnced sound and to what extent it will be made available and with what flexibity.  I gess only IGT knows.  Thanks for the help.

I am almost 99.99999999% sure that if you listen carefully to the machines while the reels are spinning that you will hear that the 90 coin varient (the 45 coin varient) has many different reel spin tunes that cycle with every spin.... You will not get the variety of tunes on the 180 coin varients. (Provided that you have read and followed my earlier posts where I detail which settings are changed in the setup.)

Here's something I haven't experienced before.  Today I tore out my 3 reel + bonus reel Big Times Pay and replaced it with a Triple Lucky Sevens three reel kit.  I installed the DSV00013 SIMM (which is made for that game) and noticed that I was very limited in terms of sound options.  I didn't have any Multimedia expanded options with this SIMM and figured it was a limitation of the base chip...like my BTP exhibited when I tested a DSV00042 in it.

Here's what's strange, I clear/set chipped my machine and I decided to try the DSV00042 in the TLS game.  As I was going through the options, the expanded sound options are unlocked with the DSV00042 chip.  WTF?!?!  The factory matched DSV00013 SIMM is limited in terms of sounds, but with the DSV0042 SIMM using the same base chip, the expanded multimedia sounds are available.

Needless to say, I kept the DSV00042 in the machine.  ;)

3.2.6.4   Reel Spin Options  Press Spin Button and set to Enhanced preferred
3.2.6.6  Roll up Options        Press Spin Button and set your choice of the two

These are the settings on a 3 reel Wild Cherry.

If the SB chip doesn't support enhanced sounds the options after 3.2.6.3 don't show up it just moves back to 3.2.6.1

Brian  I think were pretty sure SB100496 does have Enhanced sound.  I think you do have to admit that seeing reel spin options isn't the place you would expect to find enhanced sounds.

I was just saying on the 5 reel games, that don't offer enhanced sounds, it goes back to .1.

Although it's been told you can .. um.. edit.. your SB chips to open up the enhanced sounds.. but I don't know how

                   3.2.1  Volume Control
                   3.2.2  Reel Spin Sound
                   3.2.3  Reel Stop Sound
                   3.2.4  Mech. Bell
                   3.2.5  Roll up Sounds
3.2.6  Multimedia  Now when you get to this option, press spin button and go into multimedia

Yes, I agree with Brian, especially on the SB100497... You get 3.2.6.1, 3.2.6.2, & 3.2.6.3 NO .4 or .6.... That is why I was suggesting that people check there settings under 3.2.2 and 3.2.5 as Buzz was saying (I think) also, you do not expect to see them in a different area, most expect to find the settings under Multimedia. They are BETTER sounds, but they might not be officially classified as "enhanced." All I know is I took my SB100927, and changed it to the SB100497 to get better sounds, I do not care what the max bet is since the credits will be lost sooner or later any way! :97- :97- :97-
