Title: Romstar/Visco: The Dealer. Got info if anyone needs for it
Post by: nightmaretony on November 28, 2011, 12:49:27 AM
First job was at Romstar. We released The Dealer but I think it did not make it to Vegas but only to South Dakota or some state out there. Still got schematics on the board and can copy the eproms off my board if people need to. Graphics were pretty snazzy for the time. One way to tell, it used dual 65C02 cpus and the seta graphics chipset.

Interesting!

Sounds like they adapted an arcade board chipset for a gaming machine...

For their graphics, but the board itself was designed as a gambler from the word go. The basic graphics chipset was very much the MSX graphics chipset that Seta used (Revenge of Doh, Kageki, Downtown, Castle of Dragon, etc. but with the dual 65C02. I have 3 protoype boards and 1 finished board, but the finished board I built into a coutertop for my dad to play. The protos are 27C1001 eproms for the graphics so I can rip those easily. The schematic I had out fairly recently so I will scan it for anyone who needs it, just in case.

EDIT: one reason I had extra access with this one, I was asked about redesigning them into a different kidn of game. I ended up designing a never released redemption game out of the board I called Thunder Shifter. I may bring that game out someday if I can ever find a company to manufacture past my prototype to yet be built...
