Title: I BOUGHT THE BALLY ARROW LINE 883
Post by: RiseLikeRa on December 26, 2012, 10:44:17 PM
Well group I bought the Bally Arrow Line # 883.  Yes this is the same one that I complained about a few weeks ago.  Several things changed that made the machine a better deal.   First, I need a 12 step program for buying Bally EM's (That has not changed)  Second, after talking to my local mechanic he told that some of the things that I thought were problems may be a factory set up for machines that old and not an issue at all.  Third, the seller came down to a more reasonable $475 AND my mechanic bought the stand from me for $100.

After a good internal and external cleaning, hopper adjustment, and a few wire insulation repairs the baby was up and running.  I had a few cosmetic items switched out too.  New Handle, new handle hub, new coin tray.  It is my best looking machine now.  The pay scale on an 8 coin machine is daunting.  I had to run to the bank to get more quarters to cover strange pays like 116 coins and such.  2000 coin Jackpot!

The down side is the line in the sand has been drawn in my house now.  No more machines.  If I get one more I will have to move in with someone on this list.

Thanks again for all of your help.  Play on!

Sweet find... I've never seen any of the rare machines back here. Mostly E-Series and the occasional EM..  My rarest finds are my MGM EM slots.

Gary:  I have seen quite a few nice machines on ebay in your area over the years.  I wished I lived in your area so that I could snap them up.  There are a lot of expensive retailers in that area as well.  Have you been to the Chicagoland show?  Is it as good as it looks online?  I too have the MGM.  Mine is a 989 and its my mothers favorite machine.

1 more to come.  Notice the little plug on the right side of the hopper.  I was told it is factory.  I put the loom around it for looks and to avoid shorts.

Just keep on collecting. Don't worry if you have too many or your wife says no more. The current economic situation has made some of these machines start to surface. When and if everything straightens out, you will get back your investment back 1000%. Not only that you get to enjoy a part of American history in the mean time. I can remember when I searched high and low for a Bally 873. I see quite a few of them now.  Put them in your living room lite them up, and enjoy them. Your machine looks clean.

I feel like looking for more machines.  They are historical and beautiful.  If you guys see me on Judge Judy you will know why.

I'm jealous!  The 883 has always been one of my favorite models but I haven't seen any for sale.  $475 sounds like a great price.  Nice Job.

Don't feel bad... I'm one machine away from the same fate. The wife says its ok, but I get the old look every time a new one come home.   >:( >:(

Brett.  I understand from another list member that one was on craigslist in So. Cal for $450  about a month ago.  It might still be available.  Never be jealous.  Always be happy for the other guy and your blessings will surely come.

Gary the list might have to establish a home for slot collectors who have been evicted by their wives.  I hope its in a warm area.  I am tired of blowing snow.  Another 2-5 inches on the way for me tomorrow.

When I said I was jealous I didn't mean it in the strictest sense of the word.   Believe me, I'm happy you found the machine you wanted.    Thanks for letting me know about craigslist.

I totally understand.  No problem on the CL ad.  I will keep and eye out for you.  So far the machine plays a little tight.  Almost as cheap as a JPO.  That may be why it has a pay scale more generous than the Continental

Thank you Thompy.  I just saw a Golden Gate with a Dublin seal on it.  There are many finds out there yet to be discovered and shared with this list.  I Just made a donation to help with the NLG upkeep.
This list is the best!

Happy and Healthy New Year to All!
