hi ther!i have an igt video poker which is linked progressively and our slot system.now on powering, it brings the statement, testing progressive link, then cards appear very briefly and then verifying game memory. This routine continues all the time and it never stabilizes.Has any body come across such a problem and how did you solve it?

I have my IGT PE+ sharing a link connection with my S+ slots.
Never had this issue.

Try turning off the link progressive and see what it does.

You'll usually get the "Verifying Game Memory" screen after the door closes.  If the machine isn't seeing the door closed properly (ie. opening and closing due to poor alignment of the optics), you could in theory get in what appears to be a loop.

Use the self-test input screen to verify that the door is being seen as closed properly (the input should toggle between 1 and 0 rapidly when the door is closed, and be on a solid 1 when the door is open).  Also, as Jay suggested, try disabling the link progressive to see if the machine functions properly without the progressive link.  Whether it does or not will give you a clue as to where the issue is.

Did you disable the link progressive in the setup options or did you just disconnect the cable? Disable it in the self-test setup menu.

Also, do you have original IGT door optics installed, or are you bypassing them somehow?

Can you try a different MPU board in the machine? Does the problem follow the board or stay with the machine?
