Post by: LauraAZ on May 02, 2013, 02:53:11 AM
This may be old news but its an interesting article about player
who discovered and used an IGT bug to win at video poker.

Interesting, it is old news but this is the first time I've seen that they listed how it actually worked. The guy at the Silverton got too greedy!!

I was in a local tavern last night and noticed that the double-up option was enabled.  But, they don't use tickets ... when you cash out, the bar tender pays you, so I didn't dare to try it.   :72-

I remember IGT put out a bulletin to disable the double-up option. Would think they have corrected the issue by replacing the faulty software. And I would assume it was a certain version of software, not all gameking software.
But that doesn't mean someone with a home machine may have the old faulty version.
The article said the guy was playing Triple-Double Bonus, my software doesn't have that game, so I don't think mine would do it.

Later down in the article, I think they admit that it also
effected other games, maybe all that support the doubleup
feature. If you look in the IGT notice in the article, it lists
the versions  with the problem.

I would like to see him beat this.
Clearly iGT should own this and be responsible for the casino losses but that is what insurance is for.
Easy enough to figure out from the W2Gs.

If anything the guy should be guilty of a tax penalty for having someone else claim his winning ticket.

The guy is guilty of being stupid and greedy.  He could have flown under the radar for years (or maybe forever) if he had just gone for smaller amounts at a time (under $1200).

Today, the judge threw out the hacking charges, leaving only
a charge of wire fraud. Sounds like there is a good chance they
will get off barring additional charges being filed.  :3-

Yes. They show you 1 card and you choose from the other four.
You have to tie or beat the card shown.
