Title: Bally E1202 with startup error code 7 (repost?)
Post by: deanwaters on February 01, 2014, 05:41:19 AM
Hey everyone.  I have a Bally E-1202 that I bought from foxslots many years ago.  It's been a great machine and now it needs some love.  It hadn't been powered for many months and when I fired it up recently, I got a "50 000" on the screen.  The Test/Reset buttons didn't do any good.  Opening and closing the door didn't help either.  I pulled the daughter-board with the battery just to the left of the reel assembly and re-seated it.  NOW when I power up the machine, I get a "7" in the first LED position.  Hope I didn't make a bad problem worse!  Pictures attached.  I have 4 Bally's in my collection.  3 of which I got from foxslots.  They are all great.  This is my only E series.  The rest are older.  Ideas?

Take the ram board back off and then take a wire brush to the pins to clean them off real good. If you know how to solder
then flip the MPU board over and allow the solder to flow on each of the pins for the ram board, be careful not to create
a short while doing this.

Let us know how that works out.

Well I think I've made a bit of progress.  I pulled the boards, cleaned the contacts as best I could and reseated them.  The Error "7" is gone.  Now I get an error "50  . .00" (see pic).  The candle goes on and off when I open and close the door and the Tilt light is now lit.  The Reset & Test buttons don't seem to do anything.  I hope I'm moving in the right direction.  Not sure what to do next.

Code 50 is the door open code.
Until you get the test and reset
buttons to work you will no get any farther.
Do you have a manual for your machine?

That is close, you should have 50 0000 once the door is open, you have 50 ..00 so maybe a tad more elbow grease on the pins for the ram board.
Did you resolder the connecting pins on the bottom of the board? these will get small cracks in the solder and cause bad connections. Until you
get a 50 000 you won't be able to run any further tests, but then you may not have to either.
