dont know much at all on these . is there anywhere under the lid that gives you a code list ??

also it sounds like it runs off a flash card memory --along with the hard drive or cd-rom drive ??

have you tried turning reset key for jackpots in past to get into programming ??

or any re-set switches under the lid in plain view ??

have you pulled main board tray out and reinstalled .. then power back up ??

if you pull main board out . check battery volts for proper voltage ?? im guessing it should say on battery  3.6 volts dc

but some oddball games run 5.5 volts dc .

just remember take pictures of entire machine inside before you take any part off or pull any plug off

that is a lifesaver i tell anyone who works on a unfamiliar item ..

more details and pictures would help

do not do this unless you trust someone else ha ha ha

this is what i think has happened .

the good machine works etc ..

the bad machine does not

ok DUH !! WE GOT THAT FAR !!

IT SOUNDS LIKE THE FLASH CARD LOST ITS MEMORY !!!

THE FLASH CARD IS THE SAME AS A CAMERA SIM CARD .
TAKE THE >>GOOD<<< SIMM CARD  HOOK IT TO A CAMERA CARD READER AND DOWNLOAD ALL THE INFO TO YOUR HOME PC  . SAVE THE GOOD FILE AND NAME IT .

THEN TAKE THE BAD CARD AND COPY THAT ONE TO A FILE ON YOUR HOME PC . I BET ITS CORRUPT .

TAKE THE CORRUPT CARD AND TRANSFER THE INFO FROM THE GOOD CARD TO IT AND INSTALL BACK ON THE BOARD AND THEN INTO THE MACHINE THAT IS DEAD !! SEE IF IT BOOTS UP AND PLAYS !!

NO MATTER WHAT YOU WILL HAVE SAVED ALL INFO ON THE GOOD CARD TO FILE ON HOME PC . WHICH IS GREAT !!

IF YOU HAVE A CANNON CAMERA ?? MANY CANNON CAMERAS USE THE SAME LARGE SIMM CARD . ERASE THE BAD CARD THEN INSTALL IT ON THE SAME BOARD AND RE-INSTALL IN THE  WORKING MACHINE !!

IF THE CD-ROM IS WORKING CORRECTLY OR HARDRIVE ?? IT WILL AUTOMATICALLY DOWNLOAD ALL THE INFO AND SETTINGS ONTO THE BLANK SIM CARD AND SEE WHAT THAT BRINGS ??

NO MATTER WHAT SAVE ALL THE INFO OFF THE GOOD CARD TO FILE ON PC .

IT SOUNDS LIKE THE BAD MACHINE MAY HAVE A BAD CD ROM PLAYER OR HARD DRIVE -->>>> MY GUESS CD-ROM PLAYER
AND CANT LOAD THE INFO ONTO THE FLASH CARD --TO START THE GAME BACK UP !!

THE LAST THING THAT GOES WRONG IS THE DALLAS RAM CHIP    (( SECURITY CHIP )) UNIQUIE TO THAT GAME HAS DONE
SH7T THE BED !! SO NOMATTER WHAT YOU DO ON BAD GAME ITS NOT GOING TO BOOT !!

THE DALLAS CLOCK CHIP IS BLACK ABOUT 1-INCH LONG SAYS DALLAS KEY CHIP ETC IT HAS A NOTCH TO ONLY GO IN ONE WAY !
I KNOW NO WAY OF TESTING THEM .. EXCEPT WITH A KNOWN GOOD ONE IN ITS PLACE !! OR PURCHASE A NEW ONE
THEY ARE ALL DIFFERENT CODES ON THEM . NOT ALL HAVE LEGS ON BOTH SIDES --AS IN IT MAY HAVE 4 LEGS EACH SIDE SKIP TWO THEN 3 MORE LEGS EACH SIDE .. DONT JUST GRAB ANY DALLAS CHIP AND EXPECT IT TO WORK .

LAST ON THE BAD MACHINE SEE IF YOU CAN FEEL THE CD-ROM SPINNING ON START UP ?? ID LID IS OPEN AND HAS ENOUGH AREA TO GET YOUR HAND ON ?? OR IF IT HAS POWER ?? PULL THE PLUG OFF THE BACK OF CD-ROM PLAYER OR HARD DRIVE --YOU MAY OF JUST BLOWN A FUSE ??

HOPE THIS HELPS OUT !!

MODIFIED I LOOKED AT PICTRURES ITS A CD-ROM FLASH DRIVE SYSTEM .. CHECK POWER AT CD-ROM FIRSTR

THEN DO THE OTHER TEST .. IT SET UP SAME AS A JVL MACHINE ..

the cd rom is fine the only problem is the one board either the chip or the pc card itself pretty sure it is the sram card if i can find a reader i pulled the board from the good one and put it in the bad one and it worked just fine with the cd rom in the bad one so its not the rom but im getting closer just need a little more help thanks a bunch :79-

Mickeydog, that card is a pcmcia card and older laptops should have a slot or two on the side that will slide into. Once you have that you will be able to read and write to the card using the computer, Windows Explorer (click and drag) works fine for this. There are some adapters that will allow use of CF or SD memory cards but sometimes older technology is a little tempermental in compatibility. I would try to erase the existing PC card that does not work first and reprogram it with the info on the card that does. Also program a new eprom with the info on the working eprom from the other board and see if that fixes your dilemma.

I would suspect the clock chip is NO GOOD ON BAD BOARD  if you installed the good board and card into the bad machine and it boots and works .
In most machines like this .THAT DONT BOOT . THERE IS A TINY MICRO -BUTTON TO PRESS WHEN YOU POWER UP MACHINE AND HOLD IT DOWN THE ENTIRE TIME . THEN ON SCREEN IT WILL SAY __RE-SET FACTORY SETTINGS ?? YOU HIT YES IF TOUCHSCREEN OR THE BUTTON ON DECK BUTTONS THAT LIGHTS UP ?? THIS NORMALLY RESETS THE SYSTEM .

IF YOU HAVE A DEAD BATTERY AS I SEE I BUTTON /PANCAKE BATTERY IN ONE BOARD SIMILAR TO REMOTE CAR STARTER BATTERY IT WONT HOLD SETTINGS AFTER YOU TURN POWER OFF .CHECK THAT BATTERY FOR 3V SEE IF ITS OK ??

in your picture of the board with the sim card etc the dallas clock /ram chip etc etc is to the left in your picture . if you carefully pull that out and re-install it 5 minutes later on the bad board with suspect bad simm card try that . see if it boots up --sometimes just removing and replacing it works

I HATE TO SEE YOU PULL THE DALLAS CLOCK CHIP OUT OF GOOD BOARD AND PUT IT IN BAD BOARD AND BEND A LEG ETC AND THEN HAVE TWO DEAD GAMES  !! If you can take a close up picture of the top of the chip on the green board .

you have you may see writting similar to : ROM -DOS  THE CHIP MAY HAVE 28 LEGS ON IT .
ANOTHER COMMON BOOT CHIP IS DALLAS DS1220AD-150 NON VOLITALE SRAM

DONT FORGET THE SIMM CARDS VERY RARELY GO BAD . SAME AS CAMERA CARD --ITS GETTING THE INFO ROUTE TO THEM IN MACHINE THAT GOES BAD !!

AS  "Dan" tacman said the older laptops and some newer ones still take that card but a generic multi card reader you can buy at wall mart for 19.99
it takes about every card made except the ones the size of your baby toe nail  :72- :72- :72- :72-

as i said in first post always take pictures

back up the info of good units

the simm card very rarely ever goes bad --it may not be seated tight ??

the cd-rom on all those games is the culprit in long run as they run all day long cycling back and fourth as a hard drive does also

thats why who invented your machine ?? used JVL CO. ideas of cd-rom -flash card memory ==no moving parts ==last longer

its a nice set up when its running .. when it fails its normally just a re-boot from a test button on board being held down to restore factory settings to card
because the card is loaded from the info from the cd-rom disc !!  hope that clears up how there system works .

even if you wipe card clean .. the machine should do it all by itself !! incase it went down from power spike or failure etc .

look for a tiny button on one of the boards
check the pancake battery for 3volts
then last is the dallas clock chip will be the most likely culprit . it will run in most cases with a near dead dallasclock chip . but once you turn off machine it will not boot again !!

I find it hard to think ?? there is not a decal inside giving a code list ?? or re-set instructions ??

you look close on a board . it does not even look like a button .Imay have to post a picture myself .
its the size of a ball point pen head . on the side of one of the boards . that in most cases is the re-set button that will clear all error reload the sim to factory default

justkeep looking lol its there ..  :25- :25- :25- :25-

this is what the screen does when i boot it up and im not sure what emulation mode is this chip has it another one does not but they both do the same thing at start up only one says emulation mode i cannot find any reset button anywhere even if there was one inside the mother board you cannot get to it with the board in so it would not be there  there are no reset labels or any other reset keys nothing lights up on the keys for me to push all it says is error has been cleared please reset the system :103-

ok when you get to this mode .. watch the deck light buttons turn on or off .

UNIDESA SLOTS have and use 4 buttons on the deck to move up arrows move down arrows
exit & select when programing there cirsa 300 video Series ..

NOW WE KNOW ITS NOT A UNIDESA ETC but its not a pure breed machine !!

so it may use settings from other vendors to re set etc .

when it gets to this point even if you need a mirror in front of things to see buttons light up ??

try presing the start button if lit ?? this may clear and save settings ?? or another button may do the trick ?? like max bet
its a learning experience at this point .. write down settings and what you have done !!

since you have found nothing inside to press turn key kick yell at pound on ??

just currious if you hit a jackpot mode ?? bells whistles ring etc how do you reset the machine ??

please dont tell me you never hit a jackpot !! i feel really bad for you now lolllllllllllllllll :97- :97- :97- :97- :97- :97- :97-

when your all done or have spare time . do me a favor !! while machine is on hit the eject on the cd-rom grab the disc and take pictures of all the data on top
then clean it with warm water on rag replace ---then take the cd-rom disc out of the  one of the non working game .

COMPARE THE WRITTING ON TOP ?? SEE IF BOTH DISC ARE THE SAME ENDENTICAL NUMBERS PRODUCTION DATE ETC ..

YOU CAN EVEN POP THE GOOD ONE OR BAD ONE INTO YOUR HOME PC AND DOWNLOAD ALL FILES .. AND STORE THEM ALSO .
MANY OF THE >>EL-CHEAPO< < GAMES LIKE THIS DID NOT PUT A STOP COPY WRITTEN INTO THE SOFTWARE ON DISC ?

YOU MAY BE LUCKY ENOUGH TO BACK UP THAT INFO ALSO ?? DOWNLOAD IT TO HARDRIVE TRY TO BURN A COP?  IF IT SAYS NOT POSSIBLE ?YOU KNOW THE DESIGNERS WERE SMART ENOUGH TO PUT A STOP COPY --BUILT INTO DISC .. IF IT COPIES TRY THE NEW COPY IN GOOD MACHINE AND GOOD SIMM CARD BOARD AND SEE IF THAT WORKS AGAIN ..

THERE ARE ALOT OF WAYS TO GET TO FIGURE OUT THIS MACHINE IF IT WAS IN FRONT OF ME ?? BUT OVER A PC ITS HARD AND A PHONE CALL IS HARD AT TIMES ALSO .. THE KEY IS TAKE YOUR TIME .. COPY WHAT I WROTE DOWN AND OTHER MEMBERS ??

YOUR CLOSE -- BUT IM CURIOUS IF BOTH CD-ROMS HAVE SAME GAME DISC ??

IF IM AWAKE LATER I WILL POST BOARDS WITH BUTTONS YOU WOULD NOT EVEN KNOW WERE THERE ??

LAST THOUGHT IT HAS A COIN COMPARITOR ?? NEXT TO MOST COMPARITORS IS A WHITE TINY BUTTON TO USE TO TEST COMPARITOR WHILE DOOR OR LID IS OPEN .. CHECK THIS AREA OUT !! WHILE ITS RUNNING TOUCH THE WHITE BUTTON NEAR COIN COMPARITOR AND SEE IF A DING -DING AND CREDIT POPS UP .. WHEN YOU CLOSE THE LID IT WILL GO AWAY ..

IM TRYING FOR YA !!!! :244- :244- :244- :244- :244-

all great suggestions but no lights on buttons when it is in this mode also you cannot access the rom when it is in the machine it slides into its spot and the lid is closed and you cannot open it when it is in place so you would think there would have to b a reset somewhere on the outside but i have looked everywhere as far as a reset on one of the boards they are inside same problem does the machine need to b on in order to reset thats how much i know working with a novice here :103-

i was able to find a reader for my sram card i installed it it then asked for the disc that came with it i put that in then it says could not find hardware then tried search internet for hardware but none could b found is this because it has a security code or something to prevent it from being copied im pretty sure the disc and sram card are okay the eprom  :25- i think is bad so is it the game disc that sends the info to the eprom and how do you make another eprom i have a bunch of extra ones that came with the machine but i dont know what they are they have different numbers and are made in singapore same size as the one thats in the board but when i put them in nothing happens is that because there blank and if so how or can i load with the game disc and what about the chip or clear chip what does that look like and where would that be i hope i am making sense  :30-

ok first off as i said from the get go !! 99% of all machines made HAVE A SECURITY FEATURE ! TO STOP A COPY OF THE CD-THE HARD DRIVE -THE SIMM CARD OR YOU CALL SRAM CARD ..

so now that you tried that you found it to be true ..

AS I MENTIONED IN SCATTERED WORDS
THIS IS THE INFORMATION TRACK OF HOW THIS GAME STARTS !!!

PLUG IN

GAME STARTS TO BOOT

ITS BOOTING OFF THE CD-ROM DISC TO START IN MOST CASES OF PROPERLY WORKING MACHINES --IT THEN CHECKS THE BACK UP INFORMATION ON THE SIMM /SRAM CARD  .IT THAT PASSES IT GOES ON NEXT TO TOUCH SCREEN IF THAT IS PRESENT AND ACTIVE ??
IT THEN OF COURSE CHECKS ALL DOOR OPTICS --DBV -DOOR OPTICS ANYTHING THAT LETS YOU PHYSICALLY ENTER MACHINE CHERRY SWITCH
OPTIC ETC ETC .. IF THIS ALL PASSES IT THEN FEEDS THE INFO TO GAME FROM THE SRAM/SIMMCARD ETC AND OFF YOU GO ..

IF ANY OF THESE HAVE BEEN ALTERED ?? OR ARE DEAD IT WILL GO INTO A >>>SAFE MODE AND STOP <<<ALL GAME PLAY AND SAY ON SCREEN
CALL ATTENDANT ?? RE-START MACHINE -- CHECK TOUCH SCREEN CONTROLLER --CHECK SIGNAL CABLE -- CLOSE DBV DOOR --
CLOSE "RACK" DOOR -<,that is the main board in some games are protected by itself from entering to change eproms etc .

BACK TO ALL ABOVE AFTER ALL HAS CHECKED GAME WORKS .

==================================================================================
NOW YOU HAVE ONE GOOD MACHINE & ONE BAD MACHINE !! YOU HAVE TAKEN BOARD OUT OF GOOD MACHINE AND PUT IT IN
BAD MACHINE THE GAME WORKS AS YOU SAID CORRECT ??

=======================================================================================

SO AS I SAID IT SOUNDS LIKE THE CLOCK CHIP --WHICH IS A BATTERY CHIP INSIDE !! YOU DO NOT COPY THOSE . YOU DO NOT HEAT THEM UP
LIKE A BUDDY OF MINE THAT IT EXPLODED IN HIS FACE !!--YOU NEED TO IDENTIFY THE CHIP AND GET A WORKING ONE !!

============================================================================================
I HAVE A EXTENSIVE LIBRARY OF CLOCK CHIPS FOR ARCADE /GAMBLING /MACHINES --IF YOU CAN IDENTIFY THE CHIP I CAN SEE IF I HAVE ONE ??
IF NOT THERE IS A CO. BY MEMORY CALLED ??>>JAMESON << I THINK THAT SELLS THE DALLAS CHIPS CLOCK ---CHIPS SECURITY CHIPS---
REBUILT OR GOOD USED PULLS ..

I CAN POST PICTURES OF THE SEVERAL I HAVE TO GIVE YOU A IDEA OF WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE OR IS !!

AS I WARNED IN MY 1ST OR SECOND POST ??

IF I HAD ONE WORKING MACHINE AND A DEAD ONE !!  AS A TECHNICTION MYSELF I WOULD NOT PULL THE GOOD CHIP OFF THE GOOD BOARD AND TRY IT IN THE BAD BOARD !!!!!!!! UNLESS I HAD MY HANDS ON A NEW ONE OR A EXACT REPLACEMENT !!

BECAUSE IF THERE IS A SHORTED CIRCUT IN THE BAD BOARD ?? IT WILL KNOCK OUT YOUR ONLY GOOD CHIP !! AND NOW YOU HAVE TWO DEAD MACHINES !!!

BE PATIENT --WAITING IS HARD TO DO AT TIMES .. BUT IF YOU HAVE A WORKING MODEL YOU CAN ONLY PLAY ONE AT A TIME ???
AS FAR AS COPYING ANOTHER CHIP IF YOUR FRIENDS WITH ????? I FORGOT WHO ?? THEY MOST LIKELY HAVE A CHIP BURNER AND YOU CAN COPY ALL CHIPS IN EVERYTHING IN YOUR HOUSE LOL

BUT YOU WONT BURN A COPY OF A IMBEDED BATTERY CLOCK CHIP ..ATLEAST I KNOW OF KNOW WAY ??

IF YOU WANT ME TO POST A PILE OF CHIPS >>THAT ARE CLOCK CHIPS SECURITY CHIPS ETC TO LOOK FOR SAY HEY ROCKET POST THE CHIPS !!

IF NOT NO BIGGY .. AS I SAID I MAY HAVE ONE OR NOT ITS WORTH A TRY !!

This is an old post, even two years now.  I just stumbled on this post by accident today.

I'm one of the developers of this Gamecraft machine. Nice to see a picture of it again after all these years :3-

I didn't read the whole thread but if the main problem your having is the SRAM then maybe you just need to clear it.
If you clear the card it should re-init it's self on boot up.  But first back up an image to a file just in case as I'm not 100% certain now.
Come to think of it, there is clear options in one of the settings screens. That might just fix it too.
Try both key switches that are for different levels of tech/operators.
Seems like we put compression and integrity hashing on it so if it got even slightly corrupted it won't load.
It could be the card is bad too, or otherwise just won't hold it's memory once you power down.

The system is pretty simple really. The computer is just a PC (Athlon XP CPU as I think) housed in that custom lockbox case.
One of the requirements for gambling machine regulations in some if not all states.

As you can see the software boots off the CDROM, as opposed to actual ROM that was mainstream back then (still is?).
That was my coworker whom pioneered a way to make Windows 95 embedded in a very small and bootable format.

I recall the board with SRAM on it was custom made by a contracted Engineer that did a bunch of other boards for the company.
The underpopulated parts where for some simple IO ports and what not, that as you can see is handled instead by a large commercial IO board in there.

The EXPROM that you see (that I happen to code my self) is an extended BIOS.
Just some small code that runs after the system BIOS does.  It does several things to cover gaming machine regulations like verify the CDROM image,
and as I recall has some cryptographic keys in it.

If some of the lights are out then it's probably just the little bulbs inside of the buttons as being incandescent they would burn out after so many hours.
I'm pretty sure today all of that has been replaced with LED technology.

I wish I could dig up some old materials on it, but not sure where they are if I even have them  any more.
Hope this helps if you still have the old machine around some place and have yet to get it working..  :103-
