I am working on some S2000 games and was wondering why the latest version of boards have all the multimedia equipment, like sound simms and such but do nothing to enhance game play. When I key chip the game it does not allow any acess. Why is it there? Thanks Bill Scratch Head

Are you using a simm for that particular game ?
Some games do not have enhanced sound like say the Cleopatra has.
A 42 simm is for about any game.
If you give games someone should know what simm to use
Yoeddy1 on here tried a lot of simms. he has a good idea of what to put with what game

"Game play" is enhanced only by using the latest chips.
The multimedia boards only give you enhanced sounds - providing you have the right chips to enable them.
What specific games titles are you working on?

NLG members have tried all kinds of titles and try their best to get them as "enhanced" as possible.
In the end, our home machines are much more fun to play than
the bare-bones, option-less, blank machines you get to play at a casino.

Double Red Hot
Penny Barn

Triple Dollars
Double Stars
3X-4X-5X Pay

I checked all of the games and they all have the 42 simm. Why just normal sound? Bill

When your in the setup for enhanced do you get any choices.
If not those might be games that do mot have a choice. I ran across some of them.
If Jason -Yoeddy would get in here he would know.
Jason get in here.
Ford
Jim @ Blue Ridge would also know.

That's how some are. It sucks that you can't get more sounds.
If that's what they had in that's the only sounds you can get.

On a game equiped with a sound simm and a multimedia board(or a legacy board in the case of one MPU)the ehnanced sounds aren't as riviting as the sounds on, say, a Cleopatra, but they are available and better than the stock sound you get without them. What menu options are you looking under to set them up? What MPU version are you using? 500 series or 1270?

Ok, you've got 1270's with legacy adapters. Do you have, I think it's a DSPL0002 mounted on that adapter in the socket between the sound simm and the version chip? Like I said, the 42 isn't a glamorous sound card, but it's better than generic sounds and you should have options on it in the multimedia menu. If you don't, you may not be getting a connection from the simm to the MPU. The whole idea behind enhanced MPUs wasn't for standard S2000 games, but to be used with a daughter board that had all game and sound software permanantly mounted to it. Legacy adapters were just a way for IGT to not have to make 500 series boards anymore.

Yes the DSPL0002 is there. I will try cleaning the simm card. Understanding the componets I am working on always helps. Thanks for all the info. Bill

multimedia board pn#7692400 as shown needs to be plugged  on the main board .  This is not on the S2000 enhanced board it has a different board .   By going to the sound options go to multimedia and turn on the enhanced spins / roll up sounds and /  ? cant remember . Note different simms may be used most sb chips  less than 100   as in SB000100    SB00086   and so on .    not SB 000210  .  I have only had the standard DVS00042 work with SS chips
