Hi all!

I recently bought my first slot, Bally 5000+ in a non working condition. After replacing few components on the power supply and MPU I got it to somewhat working but few
issues still remain. I wonder if anyone can shed some light on them:

1) Insert Coin light is off and coin lockout/inhibit signal to the coin mech is active.
  - No error codes.
  - Only with coin mech test (diagnostic test #12) the light comes on and lockout signal is deactivated.
  - By disconnecting the lockout wire to the coin mech, I'm able to play with coins.

2) Meter board freezes everything.
  - If mechanical meter board is connected, the slot stops responding to all inputs. Everything just freezes. I'm able to play only by meter board disconnected.
  - It's actually the "meter detect" signal coming from the meter board that causes this. Whenever it's grounded, the freezing occures.
  - What is this signal used for and can a missing meter board e.g. cause the coin lockout in the issue #1?
 
3) Reel motors get really hot when idle.
  - Is it normal that even when the slot is idle, the reel motors get really hot? Almost cannot touch them by hand. Also when idle, they don't spin freely. It's like they're energized all the time.


P.S. RAMs I haven't been able to clear with any of the methods mentioned here but on the other hand there isn't any error codes either.

Does anyone know btw what is the purpose of the device in the pictures? It seems to be just two 30W resistors in parallel. Connected directly to power supply between +5V and ground.
Why draw 20W of power and generate nothing but heat?  Scratch Head

Update to this topic: The good old RAM clear solved problems #1 and #2 applause The trick was to swap to older main PROMs since I wasn't able to clear the RAM with any of the traditional methods (game is from 1991). Now I'm able to clear the RAM by shorting pins on the door board and also change the settings with a keyboard. Before it just rejected all settings.
Also got confirmation to question #3 that the reels really are "locked" when idle.
