I recently upgraded my GK to an 044 setup.  I also bought the legacy board to use some old games.  I tried to put in a new game and I got a CG signature error.  I took out the new game and put back in my known good Alien game that was taken out just before putting in the new game.  After keychipping, the game proceeded to boot, went through the normal key turning procedures, etc. and just before it completed booting, the entire cabinet flickered and rebooted.  After the reboot, it went to a solid blue screen.  I tried to re-keychip, thinking maybe I did something wrong, but no luck.  All I get is a completely blank monitor and the DS6 light on the error light panel is out.  I'm thinking I have a bad power supply or a blown fuse, but before I go buying and replacing parts, I wanted to see if anyone else has seen this and knows what the problem is.
I think my next step is to pull out my entire 044 upgrade, put the 3902 parts back in, and make sure it isnt any of my new boards that are bad.

That is the best thing to do. Make sure if it's machine or you new parts.

The 3902 boards work fine.  I was kind of hoping it was something else.  I just got the 044 boards about a month ago.  Time to start swapping those out one at a time...

Had something happen like what you are describing.Turned out I bent one of the little pins on the flash board connector.

I checked all the pins and they were fine.  I even took out the legacy adapter and put in my GK6 board.  I had the same problem.

Thanks Ford.

Its really easy to bend one of those when you put the flash board. If you find one is bent I have a way to straighten it pretty easy.CAREFULLY pull up on the plastic piece that all the pins are in.Take needle nose pliers and straighten the bent pin.Put the plastic back on the pins.

Being you are having the same problem it sounds like you can rule out the flash board and legacy adaptor.
Bent pin on the main board that plugs into the backplane?

Just to be sure I didnt have any bent pins, I pulled the plastic and there it was... a single bent pin.  I grabbed the legacy board and looked at that one.  the exact same pin was bent.
That really slowed my progress finding the real problem.  When I switched the games I had never removed the legacy board, so the bent pin wasnt the original problem.  It was the result of troubleshooting.

The real problem was solved by Jim at blue ridge slots.  He said he thought it could be a ram error and pull the battery.  Because I just had a game in there with a bad CG chip, it made sense.  I did that and it didnt work with the legacy board, but it did work with the GK6 board.  After keychipping the boards with the 028 chip, the GK6 board worked fine.  Then I reinstalled the legacy board and 040 keychipped that one.  it was back up and running like new.
I suspect when the ram got corrupted, the board couldnt be completely cleaned of bad data until the 028 enhanced chip wiped them of everything.  Once that was done, it was like it never happened.

Glad that you got it running.... Clap Clap Clap

Just a little tidbit to add in case someone reads this thread later...

If you are using a legacy adapted board on a 044 MPU for 3902 based games, it will not work with international software. (As I was told) I have never actually verified this as all of my games are US versions, but thought that I would throw this out as an FYI as it may help someone sometime! yes Scratch Head yes
