I think the WMS was not going for the wow factor rather the ability of the casino to change themes and not have to mess with the deck.  The easier to change reduces downtime, labor and waste.   However when you add technology you add complexity and if the design is not 100% commercial grade you get paper print outs on the broken buttons.   At first WMS did not sell the parts for the decks only full replacements which only lasted for a short while since the failure rate was higher than expected (guessing).

I have one deck for sale its a NEW gold deck for a slant top for $500 (paid that)

Most of the problems I've come across with the WMS OLED button panels, aside from the longer boot time, are the broken PLASTIC button actuators or the broken bezels. Sometimes the tiny little lcd module gets slammed hard enough that it needs to be replaced too. You can buy them individually and fix the panels yourself, it's not very difficult to do. Now you can buy just the button panel circuit board. WMS also has a nifty little program that allows the download of the firmware to the panel or to the buttons. You just install the program on a computer and plug the button panel to it through the usb port. IMHO, the best button panel on the market right now is the Bally iDeck. That thing can take a beating as well as too many drinks.
