Have a constant M Door open on a 3902 Game King Slant. All new optics and switches, have swapped MPU and mother board, and new I/O's. Checked and re checked harnessing. Any idea's?

Hi There

Are you sure you checked all the switches.
Cherry switch in top Box
Cherry switch on bottom door
Cherry switch under the coin In assembly
Micro switch that gets triggered by the top latch of the BV door.

Also remove the optics and align them manually.

We have replace all with known working, and have lined up the optics. The drop door has the only jumper, OEM part #XXXX. It seems I am missing 5v at the optic harness with the door open.

Hi

Sounds like a faulty processor board then - Try a known working processor board in the problem machine to confirm. You may have to keychip it but I assume you have it available.
BTW the door optics dont use the IO cards - signals go to processor board via the backplane.

See if there's voltage coming off at the board header where the wires connect?

Hello Skins

Was waiting for monitors that were sent away to confirm something. This is a trick that I use on S+ and PE+. Just checked and it works on Game King as well.
Unplug both optics - Now use a piece of wire to and connect the Green optic wire on the door to the Purple optic wire in the cabinet. Basically what you are doing is feeding the output pulses from the processor straight back to the optic input circuit. It also by passes all other switches since these are all in the ground return wire of the optics.  If this clears the M door problem you will have to chase the break in the harness.

ah the joys of an IGT slant top with a door M open problem. banghead Pull Hair banghead  many techs, myself included, have spent hours kicking the crap out of machines over this issue. Scratch Head

you can isolate the harness, door optics and switches by jumping them at the motherboard.  should be J11, pins 1(purple) and 5(green), top left and bottom left pins in the molex connector.  bend a paperclip into a U and push an end into each of those two pins on J11 and check your screen for door status.  if it's still open then the harnessing/optics/switches are not your problem; if it reads door M closure then you know that the problem is one of the switches or optics or an open wire. hide4

if this machine is anywhere but in a casino i would highly recommend bypassing the door optics, they can be a serious pain in the ass.  i've considered performing this bypass on a few machines on my casino floor to rid myself of the door M open message but i still like my job so i can't do it here.  hissy fit

also make sure you have checked/jumped all of the switches during troubleshooting, we've all overlooked a top door or the switch under the coin tray before.  Pull Hair

I'm not kidding when I say this...
I've read somewhere on this humongous website that this problem was once solved when
there was a short found on one of the candle wires?

Is there any truth to that?
It simply defies all logic...

I had a Game King with the same problem and the problem was a bent pin on the mpu.
