Having cleared, reset, reprogrammed several ( talkin' over a hundred here)  I Games...  I have come across and "issue"  the other day that I've never seen before.   Standard  3902 board...Little Green Men.  25 pin Kortek monitor... Key  22 chip screen comes up perfect. Replace the  Base eprom... start up and the monitor "looks"  dead...waiting... waiting  for the changing "color" screens... occasionally will get a "blip"  across  the dark screen.   The  Ram Error  screen comes up OK... Hold test button screen  OK... then  monitor  dark...and the occasional  "blip"  on the screen... Finally gets to the Set Up  screen OK..  Set up parameters... and eventually The  game actually shows up on screen with the  OK  "button"... and now game works fine.   I've never seen an I game  start up without the changing screen colors.

I've switched out:  Board,  Monitor,  Power supply,  and Backplane.   No difference,  No change in the start up..."no changing color screens"... during the start up.  Scratch Head

I have a working machine... but just wondered if anyone has come across this  "issue"  ?    Thanks.

Chances are it's the board itself and nothing is wrong, I think that there were some by Keytonics that did not flip the colors during boot up when used with a 25 pin screen.  CP...just sit patient...maybe 5 minutes or so and I bet the key chip menu comes up eventually even though the screen looks blank now.

CP,

For the fun of it, do you have a KEY17 that you can try to see if it acts differently??? I seem to remember having to use a KEY17 for LGM. I remember that it worked just fine that way.

I put that problem child to the side... had other machines to build.  I'll get to it this next week.  I was going to pull the  25 pin  CRT, put in 19 pin    set-up &  try  a  19 pin CRT  to see if it makes difference.     Scratch Head

I'll  try the  Key  17  too.   Thanks.
