A 71 code on E-series machines IS NOT NOT NOT and error!!!!!!   71 000 and 50 000 indicate door was opened -  one code is a NJ code the other is everywhere else.  I know the manual says 71 is  reel error BUT IT IS NOT.  Hope this stops everyone from moving reels and IO boards etc.
The usual problem with E-series is the DOOR SWITCHes  and REEL MECH lubrication!!!!   If you have a light tower on your machine - when the white light is on - the door is open - so if you lock and close your door and the light stays on - the machine will TILT with a 41 - check the door switches.
When you get 41 42 43 errors - always check that the reel lock levers activated by the coils are not gummed up - if the reels don't stop properly you get the errors.
do the 5 test - this shows if the reels are reading - all 0000 and you have problems - and you will TILT.
hope this HELPS and stops all of the hair pulling - and fruitless checking for this 71.
