Getting error 71 reel 1 will not stop.  i am trying to diagnose a bally e1000 3 reel slot with 5v reel readers.  i have a code 71 at the door all tests 1-8 pass.  I have swapped the reader from reel 71 with position 73 and still get error code 71 however none of the reels stop.   When i move the card reader from 71 to 72 the 73 wheel stops no others.  when i move it back to position 71 the reels for 72 and 73 stop fine.

I have pulled wheel assembly out and cleaned and degreased checked kick switch it seems to be operating fine.

with the readers in the original positions wheel 71 does not stop
Any ideas should I check readers with strobe light how do I do that?

I do have the manual you posted in your reply.  but it does not tell me how to re index the wheels or how to figure out how to check if they are indexed properly.  I have run test #2 all the index coils open and close fine.  In test five i can move reels to the same number like all 7's and the codes are the same in the display window.  The kick and arm switch function fine also.  cleaned all of the lube points and re-lubed.  one strange thing is i get a loud buzzing noise when door is closed.  how can i check card with a strobe light think it may be faulty reader card.

If you move the card in question to another reel and the problem follows it,
then that card is defective. I don't know if there is a way to test other than
using the system tests you have used.

Did you clean and oil the reels on the reel shaft?

You can get a spare reader from are Bally man (Foxsslots) on eBay. ($21.00)

no i did not do the wheel shaft.  i also noticed when i was cleaning the wheel mechanism the center wheel drive lever pin and the actuator attached to index coil 2 are very tight and sticky the other two move freely are all three supposed to move freely.  I have fixed to door lock also found a bad connection to it.  it says in the manual to look for hole in wheel assembly and oil from here could not find this hole to lubricate.

Most of them have one but I prefer to remove
the reels from the shaft and look the bearings.
Then I put one drop of oil per bearing and reassemble.
