Att: dealers, distributor, home seller and others

We got a email question from a distributor today, and we are posting the response here for all to see as it is something that has been bothering us for some time now.


QUESTION:

Is it OK if we put in our phone number in our profile? We don't want to step on any toes. 

ANSWER:

If you are a dealer, distributor, home seller or other, our feelings on this topic are below. 

Please feel free to add your phone number, address, and other info to your profile as We Want To See YOU Succeed in your business and appreciate all the wonderful help you can in turn give to the members of our community / forum. 

We encourage the many vendors we have on NLG to post their company info and we appreciate all of the help most of you are so willing to give to the members of our forum, which for us is like an "extended family."

We please ask that you keep in mind that NLG is a user supported site both financially, and in its content.

We here at NLG Don't make a cent off of the site, actually it cost us money to run it, and this does not even take in to count the enormous amount of our time that is committed to the front and back end of the site!

   It is sad for us to say but some dealers - distributors - whatever you want to call them have NEVER supported us with the site in any way, be it financially, donations of parts or the like, or quality posting or enthusiastic help to the users of the site.

There are not too many of these people, but it is a HUGE bummer to see posts all over the place about selling stuff, but never a quality post sharing their expertise and knowledge in helping a user out, or posting about some of our expanded off slot topic categories, etc.

We have expanded the site to allow for things that are not just technical in nature to widen the opportunities to appeal to all different types of people.

Here on our forum you can ask technical questions, get together with members in special events, laugh at a joke or two or three, show off your machines or slot hits or game rooms or even your car, talk about your other hobbies, discuss current events...........
basically spend some quality and entertaining time with your fellow forum members!
(Even waste some of your employers quality time and bandwidth! HA HA!!!) We like the all around approach.

With all of this in mind, please remember that we do reserve the right to make some potentially drastic changes such as modification to the banners and some user accounts.

  If you feel that this sounds like blackmail, you are entitled to that thought!!! 

We desire to continually improve the site and the current and future content, and part of this requires that those who benefit from the site in these manners should give back to the members and the site in the many ways that are possible such as financially, sharing of knowledge, quality posting, etc., etc., etc.
 
TO PUT IT BLUNTLY IF YOU ARE OFFENDED AND ARE ONLY USING THIS SITE TO MAKE A BUCK, WE DON'T DESIRE THAT, NOR NEED YOU HERE....
THAT IS NOT WHAT WE OR THIS SITE IS ABOUT!  
 
We apologize in advance for those of you that have to read this when it in no way has anything to do with you. We are sure that you will know and understand this if it does not refer to you!     End of our Rant and Rave!!!

This should be acceptable to everyone who frequents this site. I have never sold anything from this site but have received advice on repairs and other useful information. I never felt pushed to make a donation but thought it was such a valuable resource that it was well worth it and the right thing to do. I really appreciate the effort and plan to make more donations in the future.

Just chiming in. Perhaps I should mention my donations were just $5.00 here and there. Nothing sizable. I think participating within the community is more valuable.

I always base my donations by the information I have been getting. The more valuable to me the more I donate. 

Good thing I don't donate for what it is really worth, I would be broke.

Hey there folks. Joey and I have been discussing this for a while now before we posted this answer to the question, and I wanted to stress that this issue is not dealing with users on this site, and it is not intended to center around donations. Many users donate, and it is greatly appreciated!!!  The post is directed toward vendors, distributors, etc. We are really trying to stress the following like Joey said above:

Just posting and participating is all we are hoping to encourage 

We just want to see these people more involved in ALL aspects of the site, not just having EVERY post they make deal with selling something, or replying with call me I have that.   That is not the only thing the forum is about.  Try posting to help users with questions, maybe fill out your profile and let everyone know more about you, post an exciting jackpot, chime in about current affairs, tell us about your other hobbies, etc.!!! Many of our sellers here participate in these manners and post in many different areas, and that is what the site is about. If all you want to do is sell stuff and not participate in the overall forum, then that is what sites like EBAY are for.

I am still pretty new here but... I have found this to be a great resource site and thus felt I should donate what I could.
In my case I really have no knoweldge of slots outher the putting money in and pulling the handle 
So a monetary donation is all I can contrubute currently.. that may change as I learn more about this hobby.
My recomdation would be if anyone else found this place usefull than he/she should also contribute something be it time to awnser a question or monatary to help defray the cost of hosting this site.
Or Both.... Just My 2cents

I would have to stay this is a necessary action.

While for the most part the Sellers/Venders represented in this forum have thus far proven to be GREAT assets
to the cause, we must remember this is an information sharing forum. Not unlike most other forums you find on
the internet.

To those venders who make regular contributions via information sharing and problem resolution 
We could not do it without you. THANKS for your help!!!

For ALL of us involved in this "hobby" including the sellers out there, this site has proven invaluable to both those
in need and those with something to offer.

For me, time and time again I've found many a valuable resource here at times when I need to know something AND
at times when I am in need of something. It is STILL very important that we maintain this opportunity going forward.

While I am sure this addition to terms in not intended to stave off sellers, businesses, etc., it is a necessary evil.
Many of you are aware of the  situations we have seen before and those to come. The intention is
to maintain what has been established & accomplished thus far. This is a place of freedom and sharing.

All too often bad people ruin it for the good people. We see this in our daily lives time and time again. This addition, I
think, should come as no surprise to anyone.

For business representatives, we welcome you and appreciate your input and assistance. For those who wish to
have a sponsor link/banner above, I'm sure Joey and/or the Admin team would love to hear from you. There are many
people here who may wish to make purchases from you. This stated, we cannot turn this into the American Classifieds /
Thrifty Nickel / Yellow Pages of the internet.

Here it's not about the $$$, it's about commradery. Where else can people form all over the world come together to
share in what we all have in common? It is a beautiful thing. Here we are, a very diverse group from virtually every aspect
of life coming together to help the fellow man. It takes ALL members to make this place happen. Whether you know nothing
or know everything...it's ALL good. Obviously, donations are appreciated as there is an expense to run & maintain this site, but
they have NEVER been a requirement. "Contributions" can be made in many ways...even sharing a funny you heard...

at the horse and says 'Awww....Why the LONG face??!"                   (sorry, it HAD to be done )
