If you order from this guy, I'd be sure to ask him to pack your chips in tubes or at least some anti-static foam to protect the pins.  I received my shipment in a wadded-up UPS envelope which was then put into a box.  This is how they came out of the envelope:

Thanks for the info Abe.  I always prefer tubes and don't mind paying extra shipping with them.  Straightening bent legs is not fun.

OUCH!!!!  something to do when you watch a movie or three.  Best of luck but I would notify him/her and try and get a small refund for the extra work.

I've ordered from him several times and got the chips  exactly the same way each time.  I didn't mind though because they were the cheapest around.  I guess you do get what you pay for.

I've heard the same stories about this guy. That's why I'm willing to pay mouser their asking price to get new chips in new tubes sent to my new door in a new box. arrow frying pan

As long as you know what to expect and are okay with it, then it's fine. It's just that people who don't know him and place orders from him are apt to be disappointed. I've bought used chips before (from someone else) and they were in better shape than the ones pictured above.

I just thought that's the way used chips came.  At least they've always worked.

I have had good results from shelly61 (@)  aol.com. They always come in tubes and have been erased.

I feel the same way. I bought from him and rec'd in the same condition. Takes a LITTLE effort to straighten pins and run them through
the eraser but the price is right in my opinion. I have not had any problems with the chips either....even if I did, I feel it is worth it.
He even threw some samples of other chips in.

In the end, just like you said...You get what you pay for. If you want the BEST, don't expect to get it at the CHEAPEST price.
At least this guy is not a scammer. You do indeed get what you pay for and in my case a little more. He does not advertise that his chips
are in pristine condition, shipped in tubes, or erased and ready to go. He DOES answer questions when you ask...which I did. So, knowingly
I ordered and received and was very happy with my purchase.

I gotta give this guy a Thumbs Up. If you want some chips at a cheap price and don't mind putting a little effort in, he will certainly provide.
However, if you are looking for like new ready to go then not for you. I for one don't expect NAPA Gold Quality when I go to the Junk Yard.
Nor do I diss the junk yard for not selling NAPA Gold Quality parts.

...........Just my thoughts on the issue  arrow

I emailed him and he was responsive, quoting his other prices for erased chips and for new chips.  He says them come in by the crate like this, and that's how they go out, but I'd still take better care of the pins if only to stop the whirl of emails reagrding replacements, and the extra shipping charges, etc...

He said he'd take care of any claim I had, so I'd go thumbs up overall.  But probably worth requesting tubes for an extra buck or whatever...
