Hi everyone im new here and just received my first problem child slot machine. and yes im sorry for being a newbie!!!.
What I want  to know is this worth a repair or dump and go get a working one?

I tried to identify this machine first..its a Bally "Show Me the money"  I cant find any schematic for it.

I have located most of the interlock switches on door and either repaired or shorted in their closed state.

I am missing front door lock switch..(now bypassed and shorted) as is the side main key switch.
I am missing the coin / slug divider and cover.. shows open chamber with exposed coil for coin operation.
I am missing the lower microswitch for secondary coin activation at bottom of slot.

I can also see a brown connection strip loose...positioned left above hopper...(missing pcb? or connection for numeric pad?)

it contains the reels, hopper..
i/O board    =  P-2948_303

game Logic =  p2948-534   chip p1 reads 706
battery is good and dips read.
1=off
2=on
3=off
4=on
5=off
6=off
7=on
8=on

Regulator board? at back of hopper is a 2982

On power up...
The main florescent lights come on.
I have pulled the fuse on hopper to see the red FUSE BLOWN indicator light up.
Front panel shows no error code ....blank/dead.

I believe there is a missing pcb or non voltage as machine is in a sad state  Scratch Head Help

But I would like to use this as a learning experience so..
would like to figure out schematic and replace the spares to breathe life back into this machine!!!

your help and advice i welcome!!!

Thank you!!! Hail Hail Hail Hail

I have read a few manuals..but still not clear on which machine this is..although I do see the resemblance between machines...
Looks like i have no power getting to logic and I/O board.

I am looking for 1.main transformer output test points and voltages.
                       2. information on delay timer

thank you!

Tested voltages going to power supply board (P-2948-309  AS-2982-1)

pins 1.2.3 to 8.9.10 = 9.5Vac input correct = ok

not getting the DC outputs I assume Bridge rectifier ... any information on where  to get correct component replacements (after market).
And as to why this board may have blown..(would hate to repair it just to burn out ) maybe a common short that I do not know about?

Thank you!

This has been very interesting!!

I checked components on Power board.. seemed ok..
Looks like the main connection pins needed re soldering..... after doing so i have now got some logic and I/o working..

I have TILT and error code 50018 and 500000

Keep you posted... any code guys out there?

Bally E-Series machine.
See the vendors at the top of the page. Look for Fox Slots.
He will have the parts that you need

Reels don't spin too fast and it takes a while for them to lock in place...

More tension on springs and lubed up maybe?
next i will order the spares and keep you informed!

Point to SELF!!! these machines vibrate the solder connections on dry joints... all my components were fine...just needed re soldering on the connection pins!!!

on the reel reader control board (as 2983-2) are dip switches. by setting the switches there are various timing combinations

switch #               function
on   off
   1   short            all reels max variation
1      long           all reels max variation

   2+3   med long   spin time reel 1
2   3   long      spin time reel 1
3   2   med short  spin time reel 1
2+3      short      spin time reel 1

Very interesting post Studiopaul. Thanks for posting all the pic's. Glad to see you got it going!

I see that machine has/had a progressive jackpot. Maybe that connector has something to do with the progressive?

Hay Studiopaul, good job deducing.

I have not been able to find a way to speed up my E-series reels however if you overhaul the reels and give 'em some fresh lube you may find that satisfactory.  Also, like Mctuerk mentioned, check out your manual about reel spin timing.  You can adjust the "hang time" before they stop. As for your coin comparator- you can use the older mechanical units if you can fine one OR the electronic coin comparators which are readily available on EBay.  I personally like to keep mine as close to authentic as possible.

Good luck & welcome to NLG.
