I have a Bally Continental model E-1216-2 that comes up with error code 2 on the display. I have checked the battery (4.0 VDC) and replaced the 5101 ram chips. I have also checked and substituted and tested the power supply and the IO board in a E2000 series game to make sure they are good. I have been able to get the game to go into some kind of test mode a couple of times by pressing the reset while holding the test button but the display goes back to "2" in the far right digit and blank everywhere else when I push the reset button. I have also resoldered the connector pins on the small board that has the 5101's on it. The manual I have says I need to refer to the " MPU Board Test Station Operator's Guide and Test Procedures". Also if anyone needs them, I have eprom images from this game and a model E-2212-33. Thanks for your assistance, Jim

try adjusting the RAM board -the board with the battery attached to it  (daughter board) - sounds like you have bad edge connections.

I have tried that. I also re-soldered the connectors on the daughter board and the corresponding headers on the MPU board and cleaned the pins. I also checked all the pins with an o'scope to make sure they were connected and had a good signal on them. I also checked every pin on both 5101's to make sure they had good signals. I also checked every pin on every chip on the daughter board. I don't have a schematic so I was just checking that each pin had some sort of signal. If I power up the game with one of the rams or eproms removed I get a 1 on the display instead of a 2. Could it be a bad eprom? I read them and here are the checksums. M1=7900 M2=BC00 M3=5F00 M7=1E56. The program version is 5.61. Thanks!

M2 could be bad - or bad connection - could be bipolar proms as well -
