Just picked up a Bally E-2090 slot that was missing the entire MPU board.  Barry at Foxslots1 has got me fixed up with the right board and EPROMs but I need to confirm the orientation of the 16-pin ribbon cable between the I/O board and the MPU board. The connectors are symmetrical at each end and are not "keyed".  Can someone describe where "pin 1" on one end of the cable would connect to to same conductor on the other end of the cable?

Also, the other ribbon cable going from the MPU to the display board seems to plug in OK based on the 28 year old bend in the cable, but I'd like to confirm the proper orientation of that cable as well, pin 1 to pin 1, just to make sure that it wasn't move incorrectly by some prior owner.

BTW, this is my first slot and my first post to this site.  I'm a Electrical Engineer that hasn't done any real engineering in 30 years, but decided I need to do some "reel" engineering to dust off some of the cobwebs ;-)

Here my E-2000 setup.

The green ribbon sockets have a "U" notch at one end.  This
indicates 'this way up' like an IC.  Pin 1 is the first contact, at
the top of the row, just left of the notch.

Sometimes the ribbon will have a red or colored stripe that
indicates PIN 1.

Here's a pic.

Thanks much!  That "red stripe-pin1" part fired off an old synapse back in brain somewhere from 30 years ago :-)

Thx much Litterbox99!  It's up and running :-).  The sockets had a u shaped notch on both ends but I noticed a corner on each socket that had a very subtle corner cut off and not square like the other corners.  Your advice got me looking for the difference.   +1 (Karma, or whatever)
