Well, we need to get your post moved to the Bally forum, as you mistakenly posted in the Odyssey forum.

Not a big deal, but in the meanwhile, i believe a 88f is somehow associated with a dead battery, but not 100% sure....we need a Bally guy to chime in. dont worry, whatever it is, it can be fixed. while you wait, try doin a search (at the top of the page) for "Bally 88f".  Or Google it if the search comes up empty.  yes

By the way, welcome to NLG!  wave

88 Catastrophic Failure
The MPU board has failed for an unknown
reason (if SafeRAMâ„¢ Clear
does not resolve error code, replace
MPU board).
Not sure on the FF, on a 5500 FF is comm issue between the game & the bonus feature

Hi flipper,
Battery low is error code 81
Like timhoke says, error code 88FF means : MPU failure
This happens especially when MPU is temporarily disconnected from the backplane when POWER ON.
So you need to do a SafeRam clear (complete) to restore.
Follow the steps on page 2-12 of the 6000 Manual or take a look at this cool video byWayne (a69mopar>>>  <a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/fJ-yRz4AnYc&rel=0" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/fJ-yRz4AnYc&rel=0</a>

NB / Video shows a partial SafeRam clear, for a complete one you must press and hold Pseudo Coin AND Test buttons.
And don't forget the Machine Options will be restored to factory default so you will need to re-program the Machine Options by using Test #11

Thanks for the help ....now I have 88 2 error code      I may have a bad reset chip as I've had too many cooks in the kitchen but haven't had time the last couple of days to get back to it.      will keep you all  informed to progress.....
