Handle bearing removal and cleaning

I'm overhaulong an 891 and need to pull the handle roller bearing. 
Has anyone done this and how.  Where would I get a bearing puller small enought to fit into bearing?

Did find out how you cheat  Started work on the reel bundle and on disk 1 were 2 big round headed bolts that would nnever all a 7 or double bar.
Machine must have been a back room machine before it was put in to damp storage.

Never had to replace a bearing, we would just swap out a whole new one in the mount.
Maybe with the right sized pipes and your bench vise you could press it out???
If it's not too far gone, maybe you could soak it for a few days in some oil, and then slowly work each needle bearing apart until you can get them cleaned up???? I've cleaned some that were in pretty bad shape, and they worked.
Hope it's not too far gone....

Thanks for the tip. I got it fixed by:

1. Blasting with air and WD 40  then  soked in parts cleaner for a little while and blew out with air..
2. Packed bearing with Lubrplate and soaked it parts cleaner - hopefully dust gets emulsified by grease.
3. Took out of the parts cleaner and blast  and flood with WD 40 using the little red straw.
4. Blast it with air to push everything out.
5. Repeated steps  2 thru 4 again.

Seems to have worked!

Good deal.
Now, put a bit of oil in there, moosh it all around, and then pack some nice grease in it and you'll be good for another 100,000 miles.

I also asked the question to the Chesapeake Machinist list and a guy suggested the following:


That's good you succeeded as there are numerous ways to do it.  I would
have soaked in the parts cleaner to dissolved what oil, dirt and grease.
Then I would have used paint thinner or what one would use in a parts
cleaner and put it in an ultrasonic cleaner to get it all out.  Then do 2
rinses with fresh paint thinner being used.  Reason I mention this type
method as it is very close to cleaning small clocks that much be completely
clean.

Sound like a great way to clean things, but how many of us have the ultrasonic cleaner just sitting in the corner of our garages or work shops?
