I'm only familiar with a PE+, but I presume the procedure may be the same.

First, and I always forget to do this, make sure there are ZERO credits on the machine.  Play out or cash out any credits -- if you don't, the setting you need won't show up in the menu.

Second, with zero credits on the machine, press the small white "self test" button a few times to page through the menu -- one of the menu setting screens should be the hopper/credit limit.  Make changes with the jackpot reset key and deal/draw button as indicated on the screen.  Page through the rest of the menu pages with the self test button to save your changes.

Isn't the hopper payout on a regular PE set by a DIP switch on the mainboard? I don't remember seeing it using the self test button.

Good to know.  yes

I changed the subject to PE Plus and moved the topic to the PE Plus board to help others with similar problems in the future.
