044 MPU with chips

Hello,

This may sound stupid but could someone post a picture of the 044 MPU board with game king chips on it, trying to do some comparison and I'm not sure what I'm comparing

I bought a i-game yesterday with 044 board in it that is throwing a RAM error.  I'm beginning to wonder if the right chips are in it.  It is supposed to be setup as a game king but the cabinet shows to be Nefertiti (sp).  I'm trying to sort out do I have the right chips or enough chips or a mixture of eproms and simms etc...  Included is a picture of the board and the error I'm getting.

This is a new platform for me so I'm trying to get my feet wet with this one.

I did as instructions said, turned the key, which said hold the test button 2-3 seconds, that started the whole process over again and led to the same path.

how many times did you go through the procedure?  It usually takes a few times, however the message is usually slightly different.  Did you do a clear?

Only clear chip I have is a Clear 97 and a Key 31.

Oooops, sorry, went thru the process twice.  Same messages.  And did not do a clear yet because was not sure a clear 97 would work on that game.

Looks like thats what I'm up to.  I did follow the instructions and it went thru a series of screens all different colors and finally stopped at the following screen.

I've never even seen a game king boot so I really have no expectation as to what a normal boot looks like.

Sorry, here is the last error I got.  So I guess my Clear 97, or Key 31 probably won't do the trick.

Well got a key chip, thanks to Jim @ Blueridge and Mike @ casinonetworkinc.  Replaced a low battery and did a clear/key.  Can see my new game king screen with some tilts but touch screen is not working so I can't make selections for things like account and game denominations.  When I do the screen calibration it's almost like the screen is flipped and only half working cut in half diagonally. 

So close but yet so far...

Hello again all,

The continuing saga of my gameking that is oh so close.

I did my key chip and the touchscreen did not seem to want to let me push the buttons so I went to the calibration.  When it said touch the white dot, I did touch it and nothing happened.  finally after touching all over the screen it moved me to the next screen, picture provided.  No matter where I touch on the screen the output is in the upper right hand side of the screen.  I'm wondering is this simply the touch screen interface is shot, broken wire or something or something worse like maybe a mismatch chip on the mph or something.  As you can see by the second picture if I just reboot the system I get to a screen that appears the game is almost ready to play but since the touch screen is not working I can't get to the options I need to get that last yard or so in the config.

Any ideas?

Inspect the wiring from the touchscreen to the touchscreen interface board.  If that looks OK then more than likely it's one of two things causing your problem.  The touchscreen itself, or the touchscreen interface board.  It's easier and cheaper to replace the interface board, so I would try that first.  It's unlikely that you have a chip mismatch or other problem with your MPU board.

I did try a spare touchscreen interface board and it did the same.  The flat ribbon cable that goes from the side of the monitor to the interface board does look pretty crimped up and not in the best of shape.  Is that cable something that can be swapped?  I see where it connects to the interface board, thats a simple connection but the ribbon cable goes off around the side of the monitor which is attached to the door.  Guess I can remove that monitor off of the door and look for some broken wires etc... I have a guy that said he could get me a new touch screen piece for a decent price.  So hopefully one of these two things will resolve the issue.

I believe one end the ribbon cable is permanently attached to the touchscreen and not designed to be replaced.  I've never had to replace a touchscreen.  It looks to be taped to the front of the lcd panel on mine, so I don't think it would be too difficult.  I would give it a shot and see if that fixes your problem.

The saga continues, bought me a 85 dollar CRT w/touch screen and bezel.  Removed the nice flat screen and installed the CRT, does the same thing so I'm guessing the problem is not my touch screen.  I'm wondering if I need a complete set of eproms instead of a mixture of eproms and DIMMs.  Thats about the only other thing I can think to try, just hate to invest more money into another complete set of chips only to find out that is not the issue either.  Any ideas folks?  Bout ready to roll it to the street and go hunt me down a working unit and pay a premium.

may be a long shot since it doesnt say touch screen error, but did you check the connection pins at the chassis plug in the cabinet.  I have had them pushed in before so they don't make contact well.  2nd thing is to make sure the power cord has a ground prong and the outlet is grounded.  sure did look like a broken connection at the touch screen though.  did you try to calibrate the touch screen on the crt?

G0002831 does go with C0001235 and DSS00334.  what base prom is in it?  doubt these are an issue.

I did try to recalibrate the CRT same out come.  Base  prom is M0001018, 4 - game chips G0002821,  Dsp boot DSPL0006, SIMM PXLF 2 of 2 C0001235, SIMM DSS00334, SIMM 1 of 2 C0001235

Over all the LCD's we have tested, this issue has come up a handful of times.  From my experience the problem is with the monitor not the machine as I have never seen the issue carry over to another LCD.  Scratches in the screen can cause dead spots, broken cables/ribbons, plugs not making a good connection, bad touch screen or touchscreen controller.
