I have a spin til you win  S+ game.  I can't get the machine to stop payouts everytime I win, no credits will accumulate.  I have a 1048 game chip and a 4451 reel chip, DIP switches 1-3 are on all others are off.  Payer selectable credit is 5-0 bill acceptor pay is 8-1.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Leave option 5 as 5-0 and:

1. turn on DIP switch 4.
2. Check your credit limit, hopper limit, and jackpot limit. (page 7 options)  If your credit limit is too low, you might be forcing hopper pays.

<EDIT> realistic limits would be:
<7> [1]  0 to 1200  (hopper limit. set depending on how many coins you keep in your hopper and want to pay out)
<7> [2]  1199  (jackpot limit. Any single win over this amount will 'lock up')
<7> [3]  9999  (credit limit. If this is too low, it may be your problem)

Could you please step me thru the process to check these settings?  I am not sure how to get to the right place or what to look for.

Thanks

Look through the copy of the PSR for SP1048 that Coorslight115 gave you to become familiar with the settings and the order in which they appear in the menus.

The settings I mentioned are in the main option menu (not in the setup sub-menu <0> where you find the 5-0 and 8-1 settings). Keep pressing the white button until you first see a 7 in the coins in display. It will follow the denomination display <6>. The four digit numbers will be displayed in either the winner paid or credit window, and the rightmost digit will be blinking.

To change the value of the blinking digit, press the spin button. To change digits, turn the jackpot key.

Once you've changed the setting(s), press the white test button until you've exited the menu to save the changes. Remember that you must have 0 credits on the machine to change these settings.

BTW, DIP switch 4 does the following for SP1048: "bills-to-hopper enabled or bill acceptor payment set in self test (switch 4)." The DIP change also won't take effect until there are no credits on the machine.

All the settings were good.  I now have the payout light stay on , so the hopper accumulates credits.  I would like the light out and to hit the payout button to cash out, any additional suggestions appreciated.

If there are credits available for play then the cash out button light will always be on.

This is before any credits have accumulated.  I can push the cash out button so that the light goes out, but if I hit a win the hopper will automatically payout instead of letting the credits accumulaate.  I have to press the cash out button before I start playing so that the light illuminates, then credits will accumulate if I win.

What you are describing is that your machine is set to "player selectable", meaning that you (as a casino player) can press the cash-credit button before playing to change it from credit mode (where credits rack up on the meter) to cash mode (where wins are paid out of the hopper immediately).  If you disable the player selection ability, the button light will stay off except when there are credits on the machine that can be cashed out.

Open the door, power on the machine.
Let it fully boot up then press the little white test button
while watching the display for a [2] to to show up.
If a [2] is blinking, turn the reset key once will change to a blinking[5].
That's the page in the set-up menus where you can change the behavior of the credit button.
Pressing the spin button will change it's value to either a "0", "1", or a "2".
Change it to show [5-2] then without touching anything else - close the door.
Wait for the machine to be ready to play...

When I say "wait for the machine to be ready to play" -
What I mean is to wait for a couple of things to happen...>>>

You will sometimes see the reels go into their "maiden spin" and then stop.
Watch the candles too...they will be flashing like nuts.
Also, watch the for "Insert Coin" light to flash.
If you see these "events", then your machine is "ready to play ".

Now, see if the credit button light is on. Don't touch it yet.
Play a few games to see if the wins go to the credit meter.
If the hopper still pays out to the coin tray, go back and start over
from the top and set the [5-2] to a [5-0], close the door and see what happens.
Repeat until you get the behavior of the credit button to act the way you want it to.

The game will always try to pay wins to the credit meter display naturally.
If your credit limits is set too low, it will payout to the tray from the hopper.
But first, please play with the [5-0] settings (there's only 3 of them!) and see if that fixes it.
If not, we will give you instructions on raising the hopper limits.

do you have a bill acceptor on this machine?   what happens when you insert dollar bills?   5-0   is the correct setting.

when it accepts the bill, do the credits go to the credit display or is it paid from the hopper immediately?

or is your machine fixed at this time?

Knagl, don't leave me hanging.

I'm not on here 24/7, you know.

As Brian pointed out, Bunker had already posted the setting you need to change.  As I read the PSR (you do have the PSR, right? -- if not, let me know and I'll send it to you), you need to have DIP switch 4 off (as it must already be, as it would pay out coins every time otherwise), and you need to have page 0 option 5 set to 0 (5-0) to elimintate the player selectable credit settings.  You must have zero credits on the machine to make the change and/or for it to take effect, so cash out or play out any credits before attempting to change the setting.

Edited to add: I see from another thread of yours that you have a Balloon Bars machine that also has an SP1048 in it.  If the Balloon Bars machine is functioning as you like it, ensure that the settings on your Spin 'Til You Win machine mirror the settings of the the Balloon Bars machine.   yes
