Where did the PROGRESSIVE go !!!!!!!!!

We have all seen the machines moved around on the casino floor from one trip to another.
 You go there on a Monday and the Bally Quick hits are in the first line of machines when you walk in the door and now
 you go there on Friday(if you won money on your first trip)   and you see A bunch of new Konami's(which are getting fun to play) and the Ballys are now in the back and you think
 Dam do they keep the Slot Personal busy just moving machines around.


I have seen machines with long running progressives like a .25cent with a 30,000 dollar progressive and thinking any week it will be time to hit and the machine gets moved and this time it got moved right out the door.  Where did the PROGRESSIVE money go to. Do they just sit back and say looks like a good time to yank it...hahaha we ran the machine at 75%.

Well the other day for the FIRST time some progressive machines had a tag on them and it said.....

On_________ or a date thereafter,
this progressive machine will be removed from
play. All guest contributions associated with
this progressive will be allocated to another
slot progressive within the casino,If you
have any questions,please see a member
of our slot management team.                           


Are there any gaming laws that tells the casino how to handle shutting down a progressive machine? after I saw this tag I guess the answer is yes.

I know the slot manager at Coushatta Casino and the answer is yes. They have to move the dollar amount to another location.

Alot of times they'll subtract the reset value and take the remainder and put it in another stand alone progressive of the same denomination. Or if it's a huge amount they'll split it between several machines. Last time I was at one of the MS casinos there was a 25 cent Triple Double Stars with a $40,000 progressive, I'm guessing they killed one or several and combined them into one.

i was just at foxwoods and they removed all there $5 progressive wof's off the floor that was a bummer and i thought they cant lower the percentages belowe 86% but a worker there showed me the percentages on a new $10 igt slot that you can change the game themes on and they all were in the low 85%..... thats pretty sad then she showed me the $100 version and its % were in the low 90's...... they really dont want us to win.... those new igts are pretty cool that you can change themes on them....

Some casinos are hurting.

If they cancel the progressives they technically keep the progressive amounts that have been accrued.

Other progressives like WOF the casinos have to pay a fee to the host each month but are not directly responsible for pay the progressve.

The casinos have to balance the fee that they pay against the handle (house take). If the machinexs are not earning enough then they go the way of the dinosaurs.

Speaking from a home-buyers perspective, what do the casinos actually do with the machines? 
Notify a local vendor?
Auction them off?
Take them to the dumpster?
Give them to their employees as a Christmas bonus present?

In Nevada NRS463.01643, Reg 5.112 prevent casinos from pocketing progressive amounts when the machines are removed from service.
From what I've seen they often choose option (d).
Reg 5.112;
6. An operator, including an operator that ceases operations, shall not reduce the amount of a progressive payoff schedule or otherwise eliminate a progressive payoff schedule unless:(a) A player wins the progressive payoff schedule and any reset fund;
(b) For games other than slot machines, the incremental amount of the progressive payoff schedule(s) and any reset fund may be distributed within 90 days of removal through a concluding contest, tournament or promotion and the contest, tournament or promotion is conducted with a game(s) similar to the game(s) from which the amounts are distributed;
(c) The progressive payoff schedule is adjusted to correct a malfunction or to prevent the display of an amount greater than a limit imposed by subsection 5, and the operator documents the adjustment and the reasons for it;
(d) The operator distributes the entire incremental amount and any reset fund to another single inter-casino linked payoff schedule and reset fund, whether progressive or not, on similar games or machines at substantially the same locations, and:
(1) The operator documents the distribution;
(2) Any game or slot machine offering the payoff.........
