I presume that a RAM clear would erase the saved names -- no idea if there's another way to do it.  You'd need a clear chip for the machine's denomination in order to clear the RAM.

Not sure on the bulbs, but I know someone else will chime in with the specs.

As far as the power supply -- you're free to do what you want, but an ATX power supply would be cheaper and will last longer, and you can replace the Dotmation power supply with an ATX supply without having to change any of the machine's wires (ie. it would stay in factory condition and could later be swapped out for a (crappy) factory power supply if you so chose).

The bulbs in the buttons are #86. they are small and somewhat expensive.
But i was at the Chicagoland slot show and this guy had a bunch
of those slot buttons for sale at 10 cents each. i bought them ALL
because they also included the #86 bulbs with them. (he also had
the same buttons without the bulbs.)

The bulbs that go behind the reel glass are #555 bulbs. These
are pretty standard pinball playfield bulbs.

anyway you can buy the bulbs from the pinball stores. #86 bulbs were
also used in Wms Creature from the Black Lagoon ramp lights
and the Twilight Zone clock. #555 were used in nearly every 1990s
pinball machine.

On the high scores, has anyone actually put in their intialials
on winning streak? it seems like a tease, i've never seen anyone
actually able to beat the default scores.

Mouser and Happ sell the bulbs as well.

IGT uses #73 (GK / I+)
WMS uses #86 (360, 400, 550, BB)

See attached which is an overall bulb chart with mouser and Happ part numbers (see tabs).

I think you hit the nail on the head.  Correct me if I'm wrong but the scores are default and will remain with a clear.

Thanks,

If they are in the Eprom you might be able to edit them and reburn.

Your game must be a different version than mine.  Mine displays the scores differently.

I wonder if those are just random initials and scores put in to "encourage" people to play... like winners photos on casino walls that are 10 or 15 years old.

Looks like yours does display them like mine.

My (wifes) other dotomation machine is a Big Bang Piggy Bankin, Both came from Ottawa Ontario (Rideau Racetrack Slots).  I had to remove the bilingual stickers that they stick on the glass wherever there is english writing.  I really enjoy these and will look for kits (inexpensive) to try different games.

Thanks,
Wayne

Ha.  On your Big Bang Piggy Bankin' machine, does the insert right below the "Play 5 Coins" sticker say, "Brantford Charity Casino"?

If so, my machine and yours came from the same place.  In fact, they could have even been side-by-side!

As an aside, the 5-coin version of Big Bang Piggy Bankin' is pretty hard to find.  Also, you could always convert your machine to quarters if you choose.  The most expensive part of that conversion will be getting a $0.25 hopper (or the parts to change your hopper to $0.25 -- not sure if that's possible or not with these).

I've changed dollar hoppers to quarter hoppers on williams dotmations.
you need a "quarter hopper kit", which are kind of hard to find at this point.
you get a new quarter shelf wheel, a new knife, and some new rubber parts
in the kit. i wouldn't change it personally as it's 5 cent. (and that's why it's
a 5 coin version, because it's a 5 cent game.)

Did some more research on the High Score initials for Winning Streak.
YES you can enter them! But you have to turn the option on.
If you press the red button with the coin door open, there is an
option to turn high score intials on. You can also enter a custom
three message. But again, you have to enable this option, but
default it's off.

Neat info, Clay.  When you say "press the red button" are you talking about the diagnostic button (mine's white, that's why I'm asking), or is there a different button?

yes the diagnostic button. you have to go thru it a few times to find
the option. a friend was looking to test the reels when it was found completely
by accident.
