Just picked up a Gottlieb (Premier) "Genesis" Pin which needs a cleaning and some work to get running, but is all there.  I found a repair guide online and will begin the restore task soon (Fingers crossed that the CPU board is ok, $$$).  It powered up perfect once, that was it, I'm sure I can figure it out..... Just wanted to share propeller

Congratulations and welcome to the pniball owners association. Be careful, they multiply rapidly. ! I started with one and now have nine. The 1986 Gottlieb Genesis is in the 2009 Mr. Pinball Price Guide for $ 525.00. They made only 3,500 of them. Good luck and enjoy the restoration and have many years of play.

Nice, I picked it up for $160.  I have not had a chance to dive into it yet, so I don't know whats wrong with it.  It powers up fine and goes into atract mode.  Then you pop a quarter in, push start, and "Fizzz"...it makes a buzz sound (Sound effect from the speakers), and locks up...  It did work once for me though, so I think the boards are ok.

It sounds like a relay or coil is hanging up by being constantly energised.  Have fun and be patient. Post any other symptoms here and other members will help you out.

Looked at it a tad today.  Followed instructions on www.pinrepair.com.  Replaced a few fuses, bypassed the coin door "slam switch" and she works!  I found two bad coils, a few burnt out bulbs, and mouse remnants...  Going to order a bunch of parts from "The Pinball Resource" (www.pbresource.com) to restore her to to near original condition.  One good thing, this machine was only used for personal use, never in an arcade etc..

Thanks!

Star Trek, The Next Generation shows up in the 2009 guide at $ 2,475.00 on all 3 versions. All 3 entries show a dollar sign $ which means that it is significantly Collectible.

Just an FYI:
1. Order # 47 lamps instead of # 44 lamps. They burn cooler and will not melt any sensitive plastic parts. Order extra boxes of lamps for inventory and save the old ones for emergencies.
2.  Be sure to look in the manual or on the boards as to what fuses are specified. Use the correct fuse only. Slo blo if required.
3.  If you are new to repairing machines, order rubbers in bulk and not by kit for each machine. They are cheaper and you don't get stuff that you don't need. Save the old shooter rubbers for removing any hard to get at lamps. The bulb fits perfectly into the shooter rubber and the lamps twist out easier.
4. Save all old replacement parts. You never know when you will need to scavenge for things.
5. Order a few specialty tools from Pinball Resource. There is a tool for bending the switch stack metal pieces that is essential, as well as small files, black emery boards etc. Look in their tools link.
6. Rustoleum makes a texture paint in spray cans that is perfect for repainting legs, coin doors and lockdown bars. Much better than just gloss black. It looks original.

If you have any issues, PM me at fara3@optonline.net.
