I got a S+ that had a dead battery (12) code, I installed a new onw and used a set chip to change the denomination to .25. I enabled the dbv per instructions, got to the 61-1 ding then closed the door and turned the reset key one time. The machine works fine with quarters and pays out correct, but the dbv will not light up or take bills, any help on this?

Thanks

When you turn the machine on or remove and install the cash can doe the BV cycle?
Look at the left side of the head. any LED's on

also be sure the transport is fully seated at the back. if it is not seated the BV will not enable, since it can not cycle the cash can stacker.
it helps to reach in and press it down from the left side.

Also check SP PSR to see if it needs ID 23 or 22 for BV
Switch 1 - 10 off is ID 23 on is ID 22.

I push the cash stacker all the way in, close the door, it cycles like it is ready to accept bills, but there is a red led light on inside the bill chute. It will take in a bill but sends it back out. Also how do I check the SP PSR? for ID 22 or 23?

Thanks

unless you are using a odd or old SP chip it probably is ID 23, but if you post the SP chip number I can check and send you PSR if I have it.

You can always power the machine off and flip DIP switch 10 the opposite way on the bottom of the BV head. You will need to check it anyway once you find out what it should be set to. In case you don't know, all you need to do is take the one screw off the bottom front center of the head bracket to remove it.

All 10 dip switches should be off (and the other 6 too).

<eidited> since it is taking bills, just spitting them out, the trasport is probably seated ok.

As long as you're going to run through it again, remember: After you set the denomination to 25, be sure to press the white test button to lock in the change before turning off the machine.

However he did say it was taking bills, but spitting them back out. If the BV was not enabled, it would not be taking them at all. But he may not have saved the demonination if he powered down after changing it without pressing the self test again.

I wonder if it could be he is using the latest and greatest version of US Currency.

My DBV-200 hates the newer versions.

Yes it will take them. He enabled it but it did not know what to do with it because the credits on the machine confused the setup

I went thru this about a year ago and 100 posts to get it straight. Clear, set 15 and no credits fixed it. It took bills all along! but gave them back

Huh?  Scratch Head If he was able to enable it, then the machine had no credits. And no it won't take bills at all if dissabled. I just double checked.

Scratch Head  I've never tried to use a set chip with previous credits on the machine, but since the chip allows the denomination to be changed, I would think that IF it worked, it would also wipe out any previous credits by necessity.

It occurs to me that since he changed the battery, one or more of the basic settings might be preventing the machine from taking bills. Once we've confirmed that he set the denomination to 25¢, he should go through the settings.

Good point. The set chip always wipes out the credits. It's some settings in the self that you can't change with credits on the machine.

Yep. If for some reason the credit limit is 0 it will spit bills back out.

Rather than look for the old thread, here is a "saved" post that I have handy in my list of "Quick Replies" Tongue Out
Maybe I should post it in another thread and sticky it?

Stat garfield
