I bought this "silent service" machine recently and I'm having a problem with the bill validator. I bought the slot cheap and mechanically everything seemed to be working correctly. That is until I noticed that I was getting 10 credits per dollar thru the dbv. I looked at the dip settings on the board and they were set to what I thought was correct for a quarter machine ( diip switch #2 ON ON OFF OFF ) Well to make a long story short I moved the dips to the 10 cent setting to see if it made a difference. The change did nothind so I set it back to the quarter settings and that is when the validator stopped taking bills. the dbv sounds like it cycles on when powered up but will not pull the bills in. The dbv is a mars type, the model # is GLS-LRC-U1-D. I believe this thing is OLD as I can't find any info on it anywhere. Is there a replacement that will fit or should I forget about it and just plug quarters in it? Any help will be appreciated, thanks kevboy

Did you do a RAM clear after changing dips. You must do a clear after any dip change. Do so by pushing tiny reset button on board while powering up machine.
You are right on the dip settings, #1 and #2 ON for quarters.

I have no experience with the MARS validators or any validator on older Uni's. The Ultra Series have a JCM validator and I believe yours can use a JCM-145. The JCM has no upgrade for newer bills. Mostly likely would need different harness too for JCM.
One thing I have seen is Jumbo Uni machines still in use in Vegas taking newer bills. This means the MARS must have an upgrade.
Don't have a clue where to find one.

Your MARS is a GL5, not GLS. GL stands for Gaming and Lottery and the 5 means it takes up to 5 different bills. ($1, $2, $5, $10, and $20)
I have a hard copy of the Product Information manual. If you need anything out of it let me know.

Uniman, once again you are correct, it is GL5 not GLS, can't read my own writing. I did do a ram clear after changing the dips. After looking at it closer I'm not sure if it is a setting or a wiring problem. I noticed some wires in the harness at the base of the validator looked like they had been pinched. I will take a closer look tommorrow with my multimeter, checking for continuity thru the harness. Thanks, kevboy

looked closer at this bv today and found one wire had been cut down by the hinge. I scotchlocked it back together and figured my problem was fixed, no such luck. Now I'm getting what looks like r.r. flashing on the bv and r.r.r. flashing on the cpu. All functions of the game work except for the bill validator. Is the flashing r.r.r. on the cpu an error code?  Thanks in advance for any info on this.    Kevboy
