Ok, so while trying to go to sleep last night, I thought of a hellish scenario involving a Game King so I thought I'd get everybody's opinion on the following scenario.

Let's say you're in XYZ casino enjoying a nice relaxing session of Game Kinging.  Your luck has been up and down all night, but you haven't lost your ass, hat, and glasses by any means.  You take a sip of your favorite drink and decide to switch to a five dollar denomination and press max bet for the heck of it.  Much to your surprise, you see a Royal Flush get dealt to you.  You're trembling inside and thinking "OH...MY...GOD!!!"  You're there by yourself and nobody is around to share your excitement...at least that you're aware of.

Now, let's say during your pause before you hit the hold button on each of those beautiy cards that you were dealt, you take another sip of your drink and then get your camera out to snap a photo of what is about to become on of the happiest nights of your life.  All of a sudden while you are getting your camera ready, some guy walks by and hits the deal/draw button on your machine and runs off before you had a chance to hold the cards, sending your "sealed up" Royal Flush into the vapor.

Agonizing scenario.   hissy fit hissy fit hissy fit bawling bawling bawling hissy fit hissy fit hissy fit

What would you do and/or what could be done?

Thanks,
Jason

That is why you must take an immediate picture of the royal (like I did), then cash out and take another picture of the ticket before you cash it in.

The motivation for someone to hit your button and run..... would be to get you mad enough to chase him while someone else cashes out your remaining credits ??
Royal or no Royal fits into this scenerio.

The jackass who hit your button would be caught by security cameras and you would get your $5.00 x 5credits back.... thats about all you could expect.

I wouldn't be taking any pictures until I actually had the lights and sound going off so that scenerio wouldn't happen to me. Then the casino would take my picture holding the big cheque.......

I'm not so sure. The bookkeeping record would prove that a royal flush was dealt on the first five cards, whether the player took a picture or not. If someone else illegally touched the machine in the middle of a wager, the player might have a legitimate claim. That is not a malfunction. I would certainly call the gaming commission in such a scenario if the casino didn't agree to pay after conducting their own review.

CH CaptainHappy has told me that as a good customer of the casino he and his family frequent, that they have even called the tech over when they themselves accidentally failed to hold a winning hand and have had the casino pay them after reviewing the game history. Of course, in his case, I think that it was more of a customer service move than a legal one.

<EDIT> P.S., If this happened in a Native American casino, then all I could say was, "Ratsa ruck, pal !"  knockout

If I'm not mistaken IGT auto holds a dealt Royal Flush.

You're not mistaken -- you can't throw away a dealt Royal Flush.

Change Jason's scenario to dealt aces and we can talk.  I agree that especially in the case of a random person interfering with your hand that the casino would look at the surveillance video and at the play history and pay you the jackpot.

Nice scenario Jason. Always wondered what would happen with a dealt Royal. Thanks for the info Knagl.  yes
My scenario would have been a sticky hold button that didn't hold when I pressed it. Nothing worse than finding a good machine only to find a sticky hold button!

Don't count on not being able to throw away a Royal Flush on a different brand of machine.

I haven't met a Jackpot that I didn't like!!!

« Reply #9 on: March 29, 2011, 05:33:00 PM »

On the IGT GK machines the top jackpots that have no better outcomes are held automatically, and this also depends on the game. For example on Triple Double Triple Play 4 Aces with a kicker pays the same as a Royal, so those hands are held automatically, and if over the $1200 standard jackpot limit the machine will actually lock up requiring an attendant to release it for you. Obviously this amount and lookup may vary in different jurisdictions possibly.

Also as has been stated previously the machine has a memory for many hands back that shows the original dealt hand, and the resulting drawn hand showing what had been held. Many do not know this, but it is a tool for the casino. It can help them against fraudulent claims, but a good casino can use it to help you at their sole discretion. I have had the scenario where I have asked them to check it since a problem occurred such as a stuck button, or even a playing too fast and hitting draw after missing to hold a card. It depends on how well you know the people at the casino. It has to make logical sense of course, such as missing holding a card to a flush, or only holding 3 cards to a 4 of a kind.

So now I hope this helps Jason to be able to sleep tonite!

P.S. I have had them bring up the play history when I forgot to take a picture just so that I can... all depends on legalities and your relationship with the staff. An example picture is on the site somewhere here, I will have to find it and post it.

True, but most modern-day machines that you find in a casino won't let you do it.  It would be the exception to find one that didn't automatically hold a dealt Royal.

Heck, the older Bally GameMaker machines at the local casino auto hold a dealt quad and end the hand, which confuses the heck out of me when it happens.
