Polarized or Non Polarized??

Ron  They got into this very thing yesterday in  the Ebay thread. This link you posted is for slant top reels. They decided the lights could be moved, but I'm still wondering if you put a set of slant top reels in a upright machine and in key menu tell the upright it's now a slant top, will the reels line up on the pay line correctly. Guess if all else fails you can always off set the strips.

Ahhh...... that's what I get for not reading all the poop on flea bay. I think you need to try it and let us know.

Ron  If I had a set of slant top reels I would give it a try, but I don't feel like spending 100 bucks on a set for futher education of NLG members.

Slant top eh?  I thought the reel shelf looked kinda strange...

And I beleive the size of the shelf is the only differance. If I'm not mistaken, doesn't the slant top reel shelf mount inside the machine at an angle? As far as putting LED bulbs in an incandescent reel socket, that was discussed on here a while back and it's a nono. I wrecked a backlight controller myself doing that. The lights stayed on full bright all the time. I've got one of those kits coming, so if interested parties want to hold off for just a bit, I'll be the guinea pig and let evryone know if/how it worked out and how I tackle any problems that come up

Well, I have to admit...I put a 161 LED in one of my reel sockets. Partly out of curiosity, partly out of desperation.
I didnt have any spare xe359's and I found a comparable voltage led at the Texas Pinball Festival for a$1.25.
I knew about the socket issue, so I clipped the wires so as to have only one on each side. It was a little tough plugging
ir into the socket, (due to the clipped wires) held my breath and flipped the machine on.  Ta Daaaaa..it worked like a champ. 
It does hot spot the reel strips so it would not look good in all the sockets, and it does not go out completely, but the glow
was not very noticeable up high next to the reel glass florescent.  Any way, the search for a good/great type bulb continues..
