I guess my thought is that since it's not registering credits with a coin OR with the test button, there has to be something wrong with the board or the wiring (i.e. it's not getting that voltage). So it just seems logical that it's going to fail the optics test for sure.

I finally had some free time to switch the two coin comparators and the "new" old one works fine.......Thanks for your help.....however, I then decided to change the reels, reel chip and game chip and a new error code was displayed.....62-1....check the data eprom pins or replace the data eprom....I reinserted the chips several times and the message keeps coming up.......questions....what is or where is the Data eprom? and now since I made a mistake, must I clear the machine?

Thanks for the help.

See this page on how to clear the errors. Some are normal when you change games etc.

The "data prom" is the SS reel chip.
The "game prom" would be your SP chip.

Do you know if a RAM Clear procedure will fix this error code?

It probably won't if you have a "leg-folded-under-the-eprom" syndrome.... Tongue Out
