This is no BS,  last year when we had the boat on the lake. The boat ramp is about 4 miles from the Damn. The closer to the damn ( Bullhead ) the hotter it got. At least 10 degrees HOTTER.

When Joey goes to the lake, where does he go, right by the Damn  What does that tell you?  The DRY heat does effect your brain !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I always have a bunch of beach towels that I shut in the doors to act as a sun shade.... Plus a towel on each seat, otherwise you will have leather burned to the back of your legs! I think this year I will get those gel ice packs to hold the steering wheel with while I drive!   Silly Me! Cry Laughing

CH CaptainHappy

I've done the same thing in past years. Draping towels over the side windows and seats, and putting a proper sun shade in the windshield is essential. Even so, the car bakes.

CH CaptainHappy, those ice packs won't last long, although they should work long enough for the AC to kick in once you're driving. The year that the GN didn't have my room ready on time (meaning no refrigerator for a few hours), the chemical type ice packs I had used while driving to BH City and then had to store while waiting for the room had not only warmed up, but had actually BURST. Weird Eyes frying pan I had to throw them out.

Does Buzz have A/C on his boat?
...

It's a two-part system called wind and water. Weird Eyes   You get the boat traveling faster to turn up the wind (which is, admittedly hot), or you stop the boat and jump off to use the water component of the system. arrow  Crazy frying pan If you're smart, you start by using the water component, and then turn up the wind while you're still wet to cool off further. Tongue Out   Wet; wind; repeat.

When I went to the 4th party two years ago left my slot player cards in my car coin tray. Two hours later they looked like pringle potato chips! Folded right up.

Can't make it this year as it's my turn to be on-call at my job.  bawling

The weekend is almost here.  Clap American Flag waving flag
Again I'll be stuck with work as this is our busy time of the year.  hissy fit   I tend to suck up as much time as I can.
I know we have other member here that always work this holiday to make for safe fun events for everyone,
so here's to the others that will be working. Hail Frosty Beer
I keep telling myself that NEXT year I'm going to hop a flight and take in the show at the command center. Well, I think I've had enough procrastinating and I'll be heading out next year. A cold beer, chicken off the grill and potato salad in 110 + degree heat sound OK to me. I'd rather take in the show that have to put my name on it and be held accountable.
Save me a seat next year because it's my turn to say NO and just enjoy the show.

Hope everyone has a safe grand old time.

CALLING ALL REDNECK COOKS
A NEW RECIPE!

Redneck Turtle Burgers
for your 4th of July Bar B Q!

Here's a new twist on how to serve burgers at your next BBQ

[Description: cid:1.4211473927@web36902.mail.mud.yahoo.com]

Handmade ground beef patties, topped with sharp cheddar cheese, wrapped in a bacon weave, (use the cheese to keep the bacon shell on) Next step, add hotdogs pieces as the heads and legs with slits for toes and shape a tail. If ya really wanna get artistic you can carve a hotdog head with eyes and a mouth slit!

Next Step: Place gently on your grill and cover with an aluminum foil dome and only turn once or if it's a rainin' you can place yer turtles on an oven rack, covered loosely with foil dome and baked for 20-30 minutes at 400 degrees.

A little crispy, not too crunchy!
Just how a turtle should be, right?

Slap them Turtles in a hamburger bun and serve!
(See if your guests eat 'em head or tail first)
