Ian, K+ +1 (Karma, or whatever) for sharing those manuals and responding so quickly to mobilecom's request. applause

I had thought that we had talked about the Derby in the past, but the only thread I could find was Stolistic's thread discussing his conversion of the software to MAME.

Could you also send me a copy of the service manual. It's more out of curiosity and archiving than for anything else.

Stat

I also seem to remember a Derby post. Never had the chance to work on one of these but most guys that did hated them with a passion. I dont Gamble a lot but playing this game was quite fun even if I dont understand half the horseracing terms. These could be found in most of the larger SA casinos a few years ago. Know of at least one still in use.

I find derby games with mechanical horses of interest because they're relatively unusual. Even when older models were in the casinos in the '80s and '90s, a property would typically only have one or two, probably because of their size, cost, and maintenance.

I remember seeing machines in Reno in the '80s that didn't hold credits, so if you bet 8 or 10 quarters on a long shot that paid 40 to 1 or whatever, the machine would pay out the entire win immediately if the player won, or possibly would have had to lock up for a hand payout. I never actually witnessed a hand payout on one, however.

I remember the previous thread -- maybe it was on the old site that got lost.  As I recall, there was a Sigma Derby manual available for sale on eBay at that time.  K+ to you as well, Ian.
