The site is up. The installing of scripts and files is done, "I think!" "I hope!" " O well, the site work is never done"
With this out of the way we would like to welcome you to the official launch of New Life Games Tech Forums October 1, 2005.

The site has only been on-line for 30 days or so as we worked on setting it up.
The search engines are just now picking up on the site.

So we would like to ask all of you to help get the word out about the site.
With your help promoting this website We all can have an awesome on-line Tech Community.

In closing,
for those of you that have stayed with us the last 30 days in our beta stage, and have helped by submitting files, ideas, and suggestions,

We would like to thank you.  Grin

new new new I AGREE HATS OFF TO JOEY & FAMILY & ALL MEMBERS  new new new

I watched the forum online grow for a year -plus before joining !!
always found it comical when there were so many post about the Land Rocket !
When i was not even a member ..

actually there were members accusing one another on the forum of being the Landrocket -when bidding on ebay was done !!
I finally broke down and took off the mask and signed up . the forum has grown to bring many people together -who would have never met !

plus many non ebay deals have been made !! which puts more money in some pockets and less headaches !!
its a great place to talk about anything !!

sounds like a bartender !!! bust gut laughing bust gut laughing bust gut laughing bust gut laughing bust gut laughing bust gut laughing

lets hope 2010 brings a good health & wealth year to all

I joined on 3/21/2006 14:09, how's that for exact.  I would bet I was browsing shortly after Joey launched it.  I have to say I am addicted to it, this is something my wife and I agree on.

Thanks,

Cruisepl, actually, your member ID is 2118, and the most recent member is 2297. You can see anyone's member ID by just hovering your mouse over their username and looking at your browser's status bar (at the bottom). You will also see the ID number in the url when you go to a member's profile.

It's always great to hear that someone was helped by the information on the forum. propeller

What many new members don't realize is that the forum was lost on September 15, 2008 and three years of memberships, posts and information were wiped out. Only a handful of the posts were saved by some of our dedicated members scrambling to manually copy what they could over here before the old site bit the dust. Everyone had to re-register and start over.

It has been wonderful to see how quickly the new site has recovered. We have once again built up a good-sized repository of helpful and valuable information about many types of machines, but as good as it is, it might have been that much better had we not lost all that went before. bawling

It is also the reason that there are members here who may seem to have very few posts, but who are respected senior members of our community. In some cases those member's had thousands of helpful posts that were lost, and even though we can no longer search through those posts to find help, it doesn't diminish their contribution to NLG.

We do have a great group of members here!   Hail Hail Hail  The Wave

I agree with cruisepl: Thanks to all of the members of NLG for making this the best slot-tech forum on the internet!  applause applause Dancing Party

See looky there learned something new again, thanks Stat.   I had no idea about the mouse hovering trick.  How come the NLG stat box lists only 2085 total members?  You say 2297,  I'm gonna guess those 212 members were lost in the crash of 2008?

Been around here since Feb. or March of 2006 myself. I have seen a lot of changes, most for the good too. It takes people like Joey,
his family and some good friends to start something as good like this, which was no easy task. But it also takes all the NLG staff to
keep it running smoothly. And last but not least, YOU the members to make what NLG Games are today. I think we all need
and hand in congratulations from the forum for such a fine job.

The best way I know how to send Joey our congratulation, is to help defray the cost of hosting and bandwidth anytime you feel
a need to do so.

This forum has introduced me to the art of slotting, good friends, and more technical knowledge than all of the manufacturers, casinos, and distributors combined IMHO. So maybe we will get so large that we can break out into local or regional chapters and hold meetings (god forbid). Worth it's weight in gold.

Hey Stat, that brings up a couple of questions for posterity:

1) Is the hit counter at the bottom correct?
2) Does it include the hits from before the Great Crash of 2008?
3) Does the member count include pre-Crash members?

Now to Bill's questions... If I am wrong, I am sure that someone will E-Slap me!  frying pan
The Hit Counter is fairly accurate, but not exact as it needs to be correct every once in a while.
The Hit Counter should represent post crash numbers if I recall properly!!!
The member number count is also post crash #, but it includes previous members who reregistered on the new site. (That is how I was user#2 as I was testing the new site before we brought it up.)

Actually CH CaptainHappy  the hit counter value was carried over from the old site. I wish  that we had 6.78 million hits in only 17 months!!

Yup, the member count started fresh, since we all had to sign on again. I was actually at traffic school on the day of the crash (pun intended) ...Shhh, don't tell anyone!  bust gut laughing, so I ended up all the way out at user 40 by the time I got around to logging on. Weird Eyes

I was looking over the old member list, and was quite surprised by a few of the names that I saw there. Many members have been around for a lonnnng time. propeller

I don't have a final member count for the old site. I had only taken a single snapshot as of March 2, 2008 and never did it again. All of the other data are reconstructed from saved threads/posts. In retrospect, I wish that I had kept more info. In addition, I only saved (and still only save) records of members who have actually posted.

And why does the total member count show me 2086?  Scratch Head Scratch Head Scratch Head

See reply #12.

The current membership list is actually 2017 members, so as Joey has said, there is also error in the forum software's record keeping. The numbers that I have are from counting a list of members with posts, which is probably a more accurate gauge anyway. As of my last check, we had 1096 active members (at least one post).
Interestingly, the median (not the average) post count has always been 5 posts, even on the old site, although it was 6 briefly.

It also occurred to me that part of the difference between the current user id and the figure of 2086 would be failed attempts to create accounts. The software allocates a record ID even if the account creation is botched or never completed.
