I have a customer in Italy - has an IGT  S+  - had to change battery - so I sent him a battery and a SET chip - he tells me that after battery and set (he does not have a bill validator!!!)  -  his machine now only registers ONE credit per COIN??  - he tells me BEFORE he changed the battery and did the set - the machine would register 4 credits for each COIN?  okay what did I miss here?
Here is a pic of the SP and SS chips - will ask my customer what he has for a coin comparitor.

No, on a S+ the denomination only affects bills.  Unless there is some weird SP chip that does things different than normal (like a tournament chip or something).

What kind of coin comparitor is he using? Scratch Head
That thing sent 4 credits to the MPU for every coin at one time?  wow!
That's a pretty cool coin comparitor or coin-in optics board!  rotflmao

He probably has a tokenizable SP chip.  Using the SET chip that is designated by the PSR for the SP chip (and the instructions in the PSR), he should be able to set up the token value and re-tokenize the machine.

I had a machine that I sold that I set up as a "penny" machine -- it took quarters (only, obviously), but would give 25 credits per quarter inserted.  If you had 75 credits and cashed out, it would spit out three coins.

Agree with Post

That is the most likely answer, and as I discovered, one needs to use the correct matching SET chip for the specific "euro-credit" chip (or Montana credit, as we call it) in order to be able to set up tokenization.

Bunker, there might be some odd coin acceptors out there that allow the user to tokenize by sending extra coin pulses to the machine, but I don't see how their programming would be affected by a dead battery on the MPU, so I don't think that would be the cause here.

Looks like SP1049 and SS4711 (3CM Double Black Jack).

The PSR is attached.  It does indeed support tokenization, and from the PSR: "IGT utility program SET019 is required to modify the token value"

You just need the SET019 chip mentioned above.

Note: That is just one chip used for setting certain options like enabling the BV. Some SP chips require a specific set chip for some of the options. In your case it is a SET019 that you need for setting up tokenization.

I think the chip set you have supports Tokenization and it sounds like the settings got reset.

Typically a CMOS error happens when you change game kits and specifically between the older 731 and 1271.
THe newer 1200 series of chips needs to reformat your CMOS as there is loads more accounting stuff that it does than the older 700 series chips.

This error can occur for a couple of other reasons:
- your battery on the MPU (removeable) board has gone bad. This is usually preceeded by a error 12 (Battery low).
- Your Cmos is wearing out.

Since it sounds like you have not changed your game, and you said nothing about a error 12. I am suspecting the latter - CMOS wearing out.

There are 2 CMOS chips. One is on the removeable MPU board and the other is on the fixed Motherboard that is fixed into the machine and your MPU board presses into.
As the game is played - the account stats are written to your game board and about every 100 spins the machine pauses slightly and writes to the built in CMOS.
This is so the gaming regulartors can come back and see exactly what may have errored out on a machine.
In any respect these chips can only be written/read about 6million times.

It doesn't sound like you are currently getting errors so this may have just been a fluke. Until you get repeated errors I would just ignore it.
The easiest way to replace the built in CMOS is to replace the mother board, others sometimes desolder the chip and replace but for the $30 replacement cost of the board I could not be bothered.

Getting back to tokenization.
Tokenization is the machines ability to give xxx credits for each coin dropped. Some game chips support this most don't.
Each game chip has a PSR sheet. PSR = Program Summary Report which has all the options you can set on your machine.
Ie MaX hopper pay, Max Credits, Reel Music, Reel stop sounds, token value etc.......

If you report back with your game chip and reel chip numbers. Some kind sole might email you one of each provided your profile (with email address) is up to date.

R273 also posted a "simplified" Option sheet that contains settings for most of the common chips. His document is easier to read than the actual PSRs. If you do a search for simplified you will likely come upon it.

If you can't read the chips .... click on Ricks Faq's from the middle of the page and there are instructions to get the machine to report this in the winner paid window on the door.
