I picked up another Bally E series and I have a few questions.
The slot is from Caesars I think as there is a button on the front
that says "Caesars" on it.
When you push the Caesars button you get 10 credits and the slot
will allow you to pull the handle.
Is this a free play setup or is this a way for you to try it for free
and then put you money in to Gamble ?

And then there is a card in the bottom (2nd picture) I have
no idea what it is for.
I will be putting it back to play as a normal slot so does any one
have parts for this model ?

Paul

Paul... Nice clean looking machine... Does the machine take coin at all? Does it have a hopper? That other card I have no idea Scratch Head, says slot I/O Short, makes you wonder if this machine was linked to another machine or a computer because of all the wires? Possible was used as a promotion to draw people in the casino? I'd say ask Barry, but hes busy moving and don't know when he's going to be back on? Does it have the MPU board inside on the left wall and the I/O on the back wall behind the reels?

Hi Amachanic

It's all there like any other E series machine.
The three buttons on the front look like they
were installed at the Bally factory.  The CPU board
looks right but the battery is missing.
I don't know if it takes coins yet, haven't gotten that far

I think I will need to get a wire harness
or I will be tracing a lot of wires.
I will also need the frame around the
reel glass as I don't want the buttons.

Just curious. Do the blue or "Have a Lucky Day" buttons do anything?

Not that I have found yet .
But I have a reel problem as the reels
don't stop and the stop arms don't drop
till you hit the test button.
All the grey wires & red connectors are tied to the three
buttons on the front and go to the top box.

I had the same reel problem on my E series machine but was getting a "41" error message.  When I went to adjust the settings on the reel reader, they were positioned in the middle, not 1/16th to the left.  After resetting them, the reels work properly.  My not fix your reel problem but this can be seen withiout removing anything in the machine.

I wonder if the reels not stopping has any thing to do with the missing battery on the MPU? Are those grey wires connected to anything in the top box, or do the end at another connector up there? The front glass bezel can be found, but there not cheap in good condition. I might have one in my garage that came off a machine that was scrapped, but it would need to be re-chromed to look perfect.

Ok
The red button puts one credit at a time in play.
The yellow button plays five or max credits in play at a time.
It looks looks like there is a code 70 in the display.

Well a code 70 has two different meanings... First is Illegal handle pull (no coins played) or Illegal game (coins played, door open)...  Scratch Head  Wow sounds like Lawyer talk  Silly Me!

Here's what I see in the top win meter.

50 7 o 00

You wouldn't have the feature board for it would you?
The board with the lights up top, some one tore out the
ten small bulbs and all that's left is the tube light.

No sorry, the feature boards I have right now were out of progressive machines, not a 5 line 5 coin set up. As for the code, the 50 is door open and the 7 might have something to do with the number of credit you had, or maybe credits won since it didn't pay out?

i am kinda sorta moved - just got in - now to unloading trucks - the machine is a bally credit model - meaning - wins would go to the credit meter to be played off or cashed out.  that is the easiest part - the machine was modified for free play hence that jumper board - not sure why - how they could get 10 credits has to be interesting - but not to practical. You may be able to get the machine to play by unplugging that board from its harness - not sure if they changed any of the game chips (m1,m2,m3) - see if you can read anything off the tags on those eproms.

Hi Barry
Thanks for for you time to help us out as I knew that you had the answers.
From what I have seen so far the slot is like any other E series.
I looked at the MPU and chips and they looked correct but I will
post the chip #s if you could look at them when you have a chance.

Can the game store credits with out a battery?
I was trying to figure out the buttons on the front and was able to
cycle thru over 100 credits.
Would a clear chip be needed to clear the memory?

I looked at it some more last night and the card and extra wires look
like a game monitoring system.

The eproms look correct -  the buttons should be if I remember correctly - large button - play max - the next would be to play 1 credit - the one far left - cash out.  I would begin by removing that board.  you do have a CREDIT meter on the door below the win meter?   there should be a credit board mounted behind the top glass.

Yes there is a credit meter on the bottom of the reel glass
and I saw the extra board in the top box.
Do I need to replace the battery missing from the MPU board?

Thanks for taking the time, I know your busy.

I would guess that the door button switches are channel thru this board and somehow interface with the io board - looks like you may have to chase down alot of wiring to get this guy to work as it should.

I think I will start removing all of the added wiring and
repair the original harness.
Then I will go from there on why the reels spin and won't stop.

I replaced the kick switch and got the reels to try and work.
I got all of the extra wiring out and started
checking the systems and found that the voltages are low.
I checked the PS and the 5 volt is good
but the 7.5 is at 6.7 and the 10 volt is at 8.9.
The bridge rectifier looks like it was smoked at
one time and changed.

What would drop 2 of the 3 out puts on this board?
