Title says it all if the price is right.

I saw one a while back but the price was way too pricey for me.

If you are referring to the OLED button deck last I saw they were around $600.  They are problematic, are not compatible with earlier versions of the OS, and required a BB2 cpu.

Jeff let me clear that up.

Works on BB1 too

Now going from OS 14xx to 16xx games you have to flash the deck, that is the only paid in the but part about it.

They work fine as long as they are not abused, so if you get a good one from the start you should be good from there.

I have not seen any for sale for sometime, I know that you can get them as-is for $600 but that is a pricy risk.

OK, so they work on BB1 as long as you are using SSSG 14XX or 16XX OS meaning only most of the newer games?

Yes

The only thing you need is an OS that has a "G" in it.

Like SSG-OS-1660

So older games that use SSG OS will work fine with the OLED panel.

When going from older SSG games to newer you need to update the panel from Firmware 2 to firmware 3, I have not tried older games with firmware 3 yet but can do so shortly.

The nice thing about the OLED panel is that it does not need SPN hardware for the EBB setup, however the thing takes ages to boot and setup the panel.

Yes I can tell you first hand that they are cool, but really adds to the boot time of the game.

Some games have more detail than others...

How much longer could it actually make the boot time????

It already takes 5 minutes +  to boot -     I usually go wash the car and take a shower and it's still isn't ready when I return

There's something seriously wrong with the computer design should such an
expensive machine take so frigging long to boot up.  no
Can't the microprocessor be upgraded to something a little faster perhaps?

It's all those hardware and security checks.  knockout

I heard that the Bluebird sends its bird out to fly around the house and assess the situation before fully committing to its boot sequence. frying pan  Crazy

The panel adds time, it depends on the game but most will boot in 5 - 10 min, if the panel is first seeing a new game it downloads the buttons to memory, thats when it takes the most time.  After that its about 10 - 15 tops.

They say good things take time and the game by far is the best of the pack (video).

Still, it sounds like a perfect candidate for the "leave on all the time" crowd. yes

It is a very cool button deck and machine. Wms products always seems to have better products and ideas than the competition. stir the pot / get cooking

When I first saw these tiny LCD's in the buttons spinning reels ( although it was just in black with a yellowed background)
I thought that was pretty cool and wanted to see if I could make one.
I fooled around with some cheap $5 Japanese LCD screens you can get on ebay as picture displays but they were all
just a touch too large to actually fit comfortably inside the top of a button lens.

I was watching a few ladies playing one of these machines and pointed out to one of the cool reels spinning in a button-
they basically said "oh...that's okay I guess"  rotflmao

Even though we know what kind of amazing technology is needed to
make a button display spinning reels -
the ladies have actually zero interest in the button.  Tongue Out

At this point in time, I could not see myself spending $600 for a button deck like that.... no

Stayout I think your 100% correct

My wife could care less about the button deck - The bulbs could be burned out and they could be missing the line indicators and she couldn't care less.

I was in a casino early this week and I noticed that at least 5 Blue Birds had their repeat button not working AND several actually had COMPUTER PRINTOUTS for the line denominations.

I was horrified and moved on to another machine where she happily played on.

It is amazing at how crappy they maintain the machines in casinos.  arrow
When I got my DD haywire the first time, I went to a casino
and tried to play one for real.
I was intermediately taken back at how horribly faded
and scratched the strips were!?!?!?!

I'm sure the strips were the non-washable type but somebody
obviously wiped them to crap!  frying pan
Yet, that machine stayed there forever
and then I saw later on that it was moved to the higher
denomination section where people were betting as much as
$15 per spin on such a terrible looking machine!!!!  Duh!

Yep - you would be surprised though - we're in the minority

Most people just happily go through and don't notice a thing.

Don't forget the gorilla. People see what they concentrate on, what interests them, or what they wish to see.

Still, I don't understand why people play machines with crappy reel strips and/or no sound (unless they have a headache bust gut laughing). After all, those are the two things that players focus on while playing, and they are paying to be entertained while trying to win money.

It's like paying to see a movie on a torn screen with a blurry picture when the same movie is playing next door in focus on a clean screen. no

If there is only one machine of a certain type (or if it's the only one free) and there's no sound, I'll call an attendant to adjust the volume. After all, I'm a paying customer. yes
