captainhappy here are pics of your s-slot gateway board hooked to a LED5.

Ohhhhhhhhhh Yeahhhhhhhhhh!

It works... I guess that I will not worry about replacing the little LEDs on the 9 led board now!

Thanks for verifying this setup last night!

I can't wait to make this baby work! I guess that I need one of the setups:

Lit up and working 3 Mikohn LED5 Link progressives.
We are starting the bidding at 95.00 for Each progressive Unit. if you win all 3 we will combine the shipping cost.
What all you get...
(1 power supply. 1 LED5 Driver Board. 1 Display Board. and 1 Power and ribbon cable.)

BUT I NO NEED NO $$EXPENSIVE CON1...... Yeah!!! (I am saving for a CON2) I guess I do need to change the eprom on the LED five though??? Or do I not have to because this particular gateway acts like the CON1 in this case???

Send me the invoice via paypal and I can take care of it like we discussed. I will PM the address that you asked for. I forgot yesterday.

Captain Happy! HAPPY!

Looks sweet.  ... I especially like the legs.... you can mount that on top of two 9 inchers and have a 16 in inbetween. Any suggestions as to where to get a set of legs like that ??

I uploaded the Supreme Manual a while ago. Its in the Mikon Section.
http://newlifegames.net/techforum/Downloads/MIKOHN/Supreme%20Display%20User%20Manual.pdf

The manual is somewhat non-specific in indicating that it connects to a controller....(see page 18). However the words CON2 show up a couple places in the manual but CON1 does not. It also has the settings similar to the ChamII displays so I really don't think it suports CON1 interfaces as they have none of these.

Have you got it working from your PC yet ?

The supreme just arrived today so I will have to take a little set up time to see if I can blow this up. There are no cables included (looks like it takes both 12V and 5V plugs for the board) so I am going have to make my own but I have all the parts, as we have several Fry's electronics stores here in the DFW area ( kind of like a radio shack on steroids the size of a Wal Mart) and I cleaned out several of the peg boards in the store......Amazing how fast all those little bags at under a dollar can add up to megabucks!  I downloaded the manual...THANKS!.... and thanks to a GOOD friend   , I just might get my hands on a CON2I!  I had figured that if you did not see one at the show....my chances of getting one were pretty slim.....and if I did find one that it would make my glass cockpit in my airplane seem cheap in comparison!
So................now the 54 dollar question.........do I get the work done in my woodshop that I need to do tonight and stay on schedule....................or play hooky and see if this lights up. Guess I will flip a coin...Heads I win, tails the woodshop looses.        Tim

Tim,

I bet you used a two sided coin and are working on the display!     (or was that implied in your definition for heads and tails???)

We have a couple of Fry's here as well. I have to restrict myself from visiting there, otherwise the credit card crys out in pain!!!

Looks like you are going big time with the CON2I !!!!!!!!

Coin landed on it's edge so I get a little time to play and then back to the woodshop. What I have learned so far is this big massive power supply (1/3 bigger than the CHAMII units) that the supreme is mounted to is only putting out 5 volts and both positive and negative at that. I opened the unit to read the ratings and indeed it is one big 5 V at 32 amp powersupply with 5 outputs, 3 for the display board and one for the supreme board and an extra , which means that this puppy takes 2 power supply's. I have a regulated 12 volt that is a radio shack unit designed to run CB radios etc. Probably will do good enough to test the unit. Wonder if Joey has any extra power supply's?  The supreme has both wired and optical connectors so this would have probably run the board that was on Ebay last week also. Well....times up...off to the woodshop.  Tim

I know when I go in there (Fry's) that I had better look to see if there is enough in the checking account in case of a "Man......I got to have that!"...and or a "That sure is COOL!" attack. Last time I went in there it was for a couple of ribbon connectors (J5) and it was over 150.00 at checkout!     WHOA.............Just got an Email from the person with the CON2I..........ZOOM............I'M outa here!!!!........................Tim

Well guys and gals...............................looks like I will be able to give you a play by play post of (how to blow up...most likely ) a mini linked casino. Should only take a couple of years or so to complete, as I will have, by Friday, finally all the parts to make it work. Too bad that a brain is not included as standard equipment
6 IGT S+ units linked to a CON2I with 6 CHAMII+ units (OH......yeah I have 6....or rather I have 8 with Joey's 2 comming ...no make that 10 with the 3 extra I purchased from April as spares.......+ units ; and I no longer need + units, just the CONII's so I guess a little trading can be done in the near future)  with a 15" display on all 6 IGT's  and a supreme controller powering the BIG Mikohn display board linked as the big progressive jackpot. And the Big board is capable of almost any kind of graphics displays mixed with the progressive.
Man..................Did I just say all that?.........................Me?... ...............................Well.......   Hey....Whats that burning smell..................Yup................Mikohn sure does make some really cool toasters!   IC Tea anyone?   Tim

PS:  And now.......... hats off to the hero who finally found me a CON2I.........The ONLY one that can bring Darth Vader to the NLG!!!!!!!!!!      Thanks Jay!!!!

Howdy! Joey's stuff arrived today  (packed like it could survive a trip to Mars and back!) so I have enough power supply's and cords to test the big board and supreme. Have 10 min to spare so........I plugged it all in. Man.......does it work! Questions so far........The DOS psp works to set an amount so I could see more than just 000$ but it will not set any kind of JPOT.DO files. I can flip the dollar sign back and forth and it always re sets by putting a big PT in front (or rear) instead of the dollar sign. The jackpot files are listed as JPOT.DO, 1 thru 16, and then ALL. Tried all of them.....all exactly the same except when I switch the jackpot from normal to special and then it gets rid of the PT and puts back the dollar sign.............until I update the total and the PT is back. C1 also continues to flash between the total no matter what I load.
And it communicates with the windows downloader............but does anyone know what I should tell it? The supreme came with a CD with a bunch of sample 1 X 3 graphic files...........but how do I get them to the display?
Also it will not hold the progressive total when I reboot it...simply goes back to 0.00 until re load it (DOS). Does mean that the battery is dead on the board?   Well...........test times up for today................   Thanks!   Tim

The manual for the supreme is in the database. They show how to edit all sorts of files that get uploaded... some of these files simply contain the names of other files......

Not sure what type of battery that board uses.  Their older stuff used what is called a Farad Cap.  It looks like an electrolytic capacitor but instead of its value being in Microfarads, its in Farads.  Will hold some memory for a few weeks or more, recharges fairly quickly when on.  The newer stuff uses a 3 or 3.6 volt lithium battery (not rechargable) and should have at least 3 volts across it when power is off.

Thanks!  I get cold feet when I use the windows downloader after frying one of my CHAMII+ units...Gulp!   The Battery (I guess this a battery) is twice as thick as the ones on the CHAMII units and says Japan 701 on the rim. It has 3.78 volts showing.............so I guess it's good.   Gulp........On to the downloader.....  Thanks!   Tim

Jay, he messed it up by playing around the the default.pdf files in the ChamII+.  Removing the Flash RAM chip made the unit functional as it just defaulted to standard rom settings.  He just needs to have someone re-flash a copy of a "default" falsh chip.

Well.............I sure messed it up in a flash!   It was the first time I had tried using the windows downloader to actually program something. Just coppied one of the samples in the instructions. What worries me is I open the downloader and in the left box I see program files that are not related to the Mikohn stuff....but are the same type and are on my computer only. I might have accidentally sent one of those. Thats why.........Hint...Hint..  .I have been asking for something to say that will not fry the supreme to see if I actually know what in the   I am doing.
Still have not figured out how to run the sample graphic files that are on CD that came with the controller. There are a slew of DOS based programs as well on this CD,along with the windows downloader version 2.0 which I think is the same that we have on the forum download.
The Captain has the FLASH ROM that I fried and is going to try a re flash Gordon on it so I can send it back into outer space again.  Well..........Off to the wood shop..............Mikohn test time later....................Thanks!   Tim

Hey Howdy Hey!  Well......this is the on going toy story........or how to fry a bunch of Mikohn stuff...........just add juice!
In my mind it's Christmas... .........because my desk has wall to wall mikohn stuff on it! ChamII+ units with power supply's and displays, a supreme controller with a big   power supply, one monster display, and a 2" high flat box that calls itself a CON2I. Now........... if I only had one of those tools that work with the push in wire connectors, and the connectors, and an adapter and or a 12VDC transformer for the CON2, and................well.....you get the drift. As Jay has said......."in for a penny......in for a pound!". Maybe it should be changed to "pounding" as I hear the Captain is being pounded as we speak, as we are both basically working on the same project : Multiple IGT S+ units all with CHAMII+ (or CHAMII) progressive displays, linked to a CON2I supercontroller that is linked to a supreme controller with a supreme overhead display.
 OK: What needs to happen.....................
1. Were to put all this stuff? Do we hide it? For what all this cost, should it be proudly displayed and when someone asks were the speakers are for our home built high power stereo, we simply slap the   out of them and tell them the story of how a long time ago, in a galaxy far far away,  how Jay had to do battle with Darth Vader just so we common folks could see the light? Actually it should read light show!
2. Hook it all together.........and keep doing it until we get it right.
3.Plug it in.........................and hope that the FLASH ROM is not used to take pictures.
4. Programming...............Everything has to be programmed with it's own stuff. Hey Joey.......How about a ride in my plane? Free Peanuts!5.Fix the stuff that we break in the process of fixing the other stuff.
6.Cross every finger and throw the switch!...................And hope we do not generate a 30 second news bite at 10 PM, or 11 for you west cost folks.
7. ENJOY!.........................

To Be Continued........................Tim

OK...1st question......my CON2I..........it has something not shown on the drawings in the manual. The Board (sticker) has con2I standalone marked on it and the J1 connector has only 10 pins on it. ?  Otherwise everything on the board seems the same.  Thanks!   Tim

With only 10 pins and 9 as the 1st machine and 10 as the 2nd....................is this a single machine version? If so I guess that the machines could be hooked together but what about the output to the CHAMII+ units. Will there still be 6 communicating with the con2 or will it just think there is one? I wonder if the board is still wired for multiple machines.............then it would be as simple as taking the correct spot off the circuit board were the big J1 would normally be but if you look at the pictures there is one open IC position.
Bottom line....is this worth what I paid for it?      Thanks!    Tim

I just looked at the manual and linked in this case means multiple CON2's for master and slave controllers which is not what you want to do, so your CON2I should be fine.
