Have my 2x3 display mounted!
Made the box out of 1x4 pine, and painted it black. It's only 3 1/2" deep.
I went way too dark with the tint. I'll replaced that with a lighter shade.
The power supply and supreme in a slot stand down below.
I made some adapters so I could run Cat5 cable up to the sign instead of ribbon cable.
I am running on one set of power wires. At full graphics it has never pulled over 7 amps.
Have an 8 amp fuse, (it's all I had), in line just to be sure and its been on for days with no problems.
Put a thermometer up in the box, and it shows 8 degrees above room temp. I have not cut any vent holes yet.
Thanks to Tim, (Cessnac182golf), for the graphics, They're Great!
Next is to get it interfaced with the machines.

Ed
Looks just TOOOOO COOOOOL!!        Now remember that you can run as many graphic/progressive programs that the supreme memory can hold. I have my 2 running as many as 6 to 8 each mixed with 1 and 2 line progressive totals along with the multiple messages and the 2 min time out message. Load her up!   And...just like IDESIGN's unit ....my power supplys run cool and the meter gives off the heat. Think you need some more juce.  Looks GREAT!!!

I could use some help.
I have read about 20%-25% of these posts, but cannot find solutions to my issues.
First issue:
I bought 2 ChamII+ units, and both have the same problem:
On boot ROM check I get C17 - CRC Error.

After booting, if I turn on tests in the test menu, the ROM and RAM tests are OK (Both ROM 0.0 and 0.1)
All other tests are OK (except the UART which is supposed to fail).

second issue:
I'm using an unaltered serial cable running PSP in a DOS window under XP to COM1. The program will not talk to either of my ChamII+ units, giving me a "default communication error" error message.

I have tried the following with each unit based on what I've read here so far:

1)  Reading from the unit(s) in PSP (communication failure)
2)  Writing to the unit(s) in PSP (nothing happens - no communication)
3)  Pull out U4 (RAM) for 2 minutes and re-insert (does not clear C17)
4)  ReBirth (does not clear C17)
5)  Pull out U5 (flash) and turn unit(s) on without this chip. (C17 error still occurs)

Stickers:
U19: CH2 STA/V1.61   98MK   K2/HC7A    U19  cs:F804
U10: CSSA V1.3
board:  341-075-00 CSTLR STND ALONE ... (with barcode)

I also get minor C10, C14 errors when in SA mode, but i figure if I can clear the main checksum error and reset the boards, those would go away.

PS: I'm looking to set one of these up as a stand-alone, and keep the other for a spare (for now).

I have seen the C17 error before.  I believe those chips are mismatched, as I recall the 1.61 should have a CSSA 1.2.

Also, you can't use a standard serial cable with out the jumper between pins 1 and 5.

Those other error should go away when you have it programmed and connected to a machine.

From what I read, one should use the 1-5 jumper for the CON1 and CON2, but not the Cham II+  ?? Is that wrong?
How do I go about matching the chips? (which of the two (U10, U19) should I try to find, and which would be easier to find?)

Thanks again  ,
David
