The controllers I have programmed do NOT use a straight through cable. If you need the pinout email me and I will post.

mikeeady@usa.net

Which controllers are you using?  CON1?  CON2?

there's currently a person offering these Mikohn display controllers with a led board.  Are these the ones referred to as LEDS?

No - these are Display driver boards used for the larger signs right on the back of the sign. They drive the LED modules but require a data feed from another source.

In addition to these boards you also need a Chami or Chamii to feed the driver board.
If the Chami or Chamii are link versions then you also need a CON1 or CON2 to dirive the link boards.

Does a prom determine whether or not a chami is a link or stand-alone?   I want to set up a mikohn progressive, so correct me if I have my "facts" wrong.  I need.

1. Dispay with driver.
2. Chami or chamII (are these what are known as leds?)
3. a Con1 or 2 if I want linked progressives.

You are on the mark.....for MIKON equipment.

A couple of the finer points...
- I think its pretty unusual to see the display driver boards being offered up without a display. These are usually pretty integrated.
- The LED5 is a LINK device, usually just used with a CON1/2/
- The CON1/CON2 have no capabilities of driving a display directly and need a LED5
- A ChamI or ChamIiI with the link (Eprom) is a LED5. It is interfaced to the CON1 with a 2 wire data connection.
- A ChamI, ChamII or ChamII+ is usually a standalone device that uses a ribbon cable to connect directly to the display for a in-machine progressive.
- PSP is the software that speaks to either the ChamII+ or the CON1.

You often see payglass on ebay that has the display integrated into topglass.

IGT also sells their own progressive displays. They have small units that go behind the payglass stickers.

Great info on the Mikohn stuff peoples!!!!  I currently have 3 standalone progressive machines installed....altho...i have 3 displays without the piggy back boards....my displays are 12 segment displays....i need them so that i can run text one 1 display and continue using my progressive display at the same time.

not really sure how much these should cost as used/tested...any clue?

I will be asking for these in the "want ad" section also.

Your display boards do have electronics on the backs of them do they not ??
The boards being offered up on ebay would interface to the actual display segments.

Just like you described you usually don't see these things as two separate pieces.

My 12 segment displays do require the piggy back boards...they have connectors to plug into the actual electronics on the back of the displays which allow you to connect via ribbon cables to the controller.....

dont really need anymore displays laying around...just the piggy back board would be nice so i can run both text and jackpot amounts at the same time.

If you are running a ChamiII2 and using PSP you could run both amounts and text at the same time.
In the Jackpot.do file you simply need to add in a Jackpot token followed by a 0 (or 1,2,3,4) and you can intermix.

I think you are going to find it difficult if not impossible just finding the piggy back boards without the display.

I think you are going to find it difficult if not impossible just finding the piggy back boards without the display.

My thoughts on the missing piggy back boards:

The same display board is used for both the CHAMII+ and the CHAMIII.  The CHAMIII is actually the piggy back board (instead of a separate driver and controller board).  As the Glass (game kit) was pulled off the floor and converted to another game title, the CHAMIII were put back on the shelf.  The glass and LED displays (which are double sided taped on pretty damn good) are left on the glass and untimately sold off when they clean house.

So, yes, it will be difficult to find just the old CHAMII+ driver boards.  But more and more displays, missing the board, will show up over time.

I don't think so you need a con2 super controller to drive that sign..

I seen one at http://www.usedcasinoequipment.com  last month for sale for 1300.00
You mite want to give them a call.... and see if they have any..

That's not the correct board.   The board he is loking for is for a Mikohn display and can be seen in this auction on ebay:

below is a photo of the board he is looking for.

I notice that on Mikohn stuff, the "overhead display are described as" 1 x 2 display, Does this mean two line displays?  And on the LED5 displays 12 cells, does that mean 12 characters?

Not really.

On the 1 X 2. It is indicating that it is made up of two of the larger panels - end to end.  A 2 X 3 is two panels tall, and three panels wide.  You might have noticed some of these larger display panels showing up on Ebay individually for anywhere from $150 to $300 per panel.

On the LED5 or Mini Chameloens, the 12 cell indicates how many Dot Matrix LED "Blocks" they used on the board.  These blocks are 5 dots wide and 8 dots high.  In this case, that pretty much does translate to 12 characters wide.

The word MEGABUCKS just fits nicely.
MONAGHAN MEGABUCKS can be displayed either scrolling or alternating.
Its just over $1800 having started off at $250 (1000 coins) which was the top payout on EarthQuake.

So not exactly Mega yet .....

The ultimate in NLG teamwork would be to have all our progessives linked through a vpn, now that would be cool!!!  Whoever hits the NLG progressive wins an all expenses paid vacation to your very own living room couch, plus bragging rights until the next person wins??

Darn If I can just get the modified paytable chip to work we can test how all these progressive settings work out.  Still working on the checksum issue.

Does anyone know what the two jumpers are for on the Piggyback board for the Mini Chameleons?

Anyone have a part number for the 2 pin power plug, or the Ribbon cable plugs?

I would guess that the Mini Chameleons require a 5 Volt supply, Am I correct?

Thanks for the help!
