is it a chamII or a chamII Plus?  you can only connect a chamII Plus to an s+.  The chamII is a linker only and requires a con2 supercontroller.  If the board has 1 eprom, is a chamII plus.  If it has 2 eproms, it's a chamII.

I presume you are talking about a ChamII+ and not a ChamII ?

ChamII are driven off of a CON2 or a CON1 + Gateway controller and are not connected directly to the S+ unless you count the display connected to the glass.

The settings that Oz indicated are within the PSP program. There is a copy in the download database if you haven't got it along with a manual for the ChamII+

When you select option 1 in the PSP menu your PSP "Jackpot Programming" will be displayed. This is where you set the jackpot base amount, currnt jackpot amount, increment rate, jackpot limit. Also by pressing key F4 you can set your machine type Igt S+ M-08
. With key F8 you can set protocol, MS-04
 should work ok.

Cheers

Ozzy

PS if you get up to the 5 posts mark you can get all manuals pertianing to mikohn in the download area.

Thank you for your reply. My Machine works very well!!
Well I have one more question.
CON1 J3 Display output is as follows.
1-2 Curcuit A+,Curcuit A-
3-4 Curcuit B+,Curcuit B-
5-6 Curcuit C+,Curcuit C-
7-8 Not Connected

CON1I J3 Display output is as follows.
1-2 Data A+,Data A-
3-4 Data B+.Data B-
5-6 Data C+,Data C-
7-8 Data D+,Data D-

LED4 Logic board J1 Display Connector
Pin 1 Data -
Pin 2 Data+

In machine Linker logic board J4 Display Connector
Pin1 Data-
Pin2 Data+

Q1
Can I connect CON1 to LED4 or In machine linker logic board?
I know I can connect CON1I to LED4 and linker logic board.
But they have difference "Data" and "Curcuit".

Q2
In case I connect CON1I to LED4 or Linker logic board,
Does it work without GATEWAY logic board?
Can I connect them without GATEWAY logic board?

Q3
CON1 and CON1I can be worked  by D.C. 9V?
I found CON1 in Ebay,the auction show CON1 need D.C.9V.
Does CON1I need same voltage?

Please help me.Thank you!!!

I think Con1 and Con1i are the same voltage but one of them has a higher milli-amp draw.

I have my CON1 ---> LED4 --> 1x2 display
There is no linker board required.

I believe the Linker boards are only needed from Con1-->Linker-->ChamiII--> Display

The CON2 can speak directly to a ChamII without a linker.

Do you have any linkers ?? there are a number of us looking for these as there are a number of ChamIIs around that we can't drive with our CON1s.

Jay, I think Linker is what they call a NON-Stand Alone display controller (as opposed to Stand Alone).

What I think you are actually trying to find is a "Gateway"???

On the CON1 you have support for 4 data outputs.

Mine are connected to 3 LED5s (also known as CHAM1) and a LED4 which drives the overhead sign.
The LED5's and LED4 take a simple 2 wire input from the CON1

That post you linked in was a ChamII (connected to the Royal flush poker glass) that I could not drive from the CON1, nor could I program it direct etc. I had also tried to use the CHAM1 as a standalone and that did not work until I got the CON1.

Others are now running the ChamII+ which will work standalone. But a number of us also own ChamII's that until we either get gateways or CON2s are not doing us much good at all.

We can run the self-test on our ChamII's

Thats about it. For now.

Jay, since you have multiple displays, have you tried running a multi-level jackpot using mikohn stuff.  I take it that you would program Jpot0 and  jpot1 and assign the displays accordingly.  Do you then just setup the S+'s for dual level link and that works?

Rick,

You can do this very easily. You simply set the dipswitches to display the value you want.
The downside of this is then it only displays the values, no messages etc.
Of course with the multi-level link all machines contribute to all jackpots by some fractional amount.
So its not like you can put a machine specific value up either.

If you put it into the setting where you get messages you can program the message with different jackpot tokens.
A token is where you tell it to display Jackpot 0,1,2,3 ....but again you can't direct a specific message to a specific machine or display.

This is one of the reasons that I installed the IGT internal progressive (second level) into each machne is so I have a machine specific progressive as well as linked overall progressive.

I have a second Con1 that I have been thinking of hooking up in parallel - not sure how these things would like that - and doubtful that it would be casino approved... not that my basement actually falls into any gaming regulation, nor does the hoop on my driveway but you do want to play by some set of rules.... The goal would be to put up one set of messages on the 1x2 sign and a different set on the displays in each of my machines.

The other thing that I thought of that would be cool would be to have a message scroll across all of the 3 machines like it was one long display. But unlike the 1x2, 1x3 etc modules there is no way to daisy chain these small LED5 displays together to do that.

I need to research the CON2 to see if it has some of these features/abilities....

The different set of messages on the 1x2 and machines should work.  You don't actually have to have machines connected for the messages to scroll by.  You would just program your messages on the second Con1, connect that to your 1x2 and do not connect your slots into that con1.  Then after two minutes it will just display the Mess.Do file over and over as it would never come out of idle.  The other con1 would display your jackpot info and whatever different message you want.

When your box arrives I should be able to do one machine with my Mikohn Stand-alone as top jackpot and the IGT LED unit as secondary.  Should be cool.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have thought about that but I want it alll.....
I can buy cheap signs (realtive to Mikohn)  if I want to just do just text.... lots of those on ebay.... I however want the Jpot integration etc. Different odomotor speeds, different messages if its in play/not in play etc. Still just bouncing the thoughts around....

I use a 1271 as my game chip and a Set90 chip to program the progressive.(download a set90 psr)
One of the settings asks about whats primary, whats link etc. This number needs to be a 2 which means link is primary and secondary jackpot is standalone. The next settings asks how many levels of progressive do you have. Choice is 1 or 2. I choose 2.

Just a note here. There are 4 places where you can plug the display into the board. If you are using this as your secondary progressive then you have to be in position two. This caught me out the first time.

The only watch out for on this set chip is the option around bill validator on/off (default is off). You can go in set all the options for denomination. Set that it is self test selectable and then put your game chip back. The UGGGH ! have to do it all over again if you forget this one little option. I can't figure out why this would even be there... if you set your demonimation to something other than 0 wouldn't this kind of indicate you want it ON ? live and learn.

These IGT internal units have capabilities for up to 4. But the IGT S+ only lets you put in a 1 or a 2. SO if you are not running any other progressive you could use two displays with one unit. I hear that certain the Video Poker games can handle 4.

The boards for these things are mounted on this large metal tray. These I believe are designed for use in a round top. Both my 16" and 9" machines actually have metal standoffs on the left side of the top box. In my case I pulled the board off the tray and the standoffs line up perfectly. Power etc for the board comes from the S+

Mounting these in my 9" were interestng. The dual slide brackets are too long. In fact when I got these things in,  the brackets were all rolled up like some one had used needle-nose and rolled the metal.  I used a pair of linesman plyers to get them semi straight then a vice to flatten them back to looking semi-decent. However this did little for me when I went to use them. I ended up measuring where the lower display window was then bending the bracket at right angles. Using a drill I made a small hole through the metal on the top of my machine -- had to be very careful not to drill through the top of the machine. I then followed up by using a shallow sheet metal screw. This gives me the ability to move side to side. Should be fairly obvious when you have these in your hands.

As the con1 doesn't use serial return, maybe you could just splice up both con'1's off the same conection. That way you have duplicate jackpot information on both con1's?

I wish we had a better picture of the board but from the looks of it, I think it is an IGT stand alone 2 level progressive.  Most (if not all) of the S+ SP type chips send serial information for up to 4 jackpot levels to the wiring to the head.  There, another microcontroller board is used to translate this data into display information.  While on the older tiny 7 segment displays, it was nothing more than the numbers, on this dot matrix, it is still apparently just displaying dollar values.  The board and wiring look an awful lot like that standard IGT set up.

Besides paying shipping from Japan, the tuff part would be finding a game title with the proper glass to use these two large displays.  It all appears to be the entire assembly that would go into a 16 inch top box.  But one could assume the seller has that too???

REFERENCE REPLIES 35-36.

CJ-

Attached is a better picture of a similar board, or who knows maybe the same board. I bought this on ebay last week (Not from the listing that was mentioned in the above quoted post.) thinking I could find information for it, so I come to the experts!!!  Attached are a couple of quick pictures, and a listing of the markings on the system. It sure looks like the one quoted above, but missing the meters/displays!     It is also missing the eprom at U34!

I have a meter that is part number 341-002-00B 12c, 2in disp, which I was hoping would work with this, but I am not sure as this display has 20 pin connection on it, and the unit pictured below has a 40 pin connector. I am guessing that the unit normally drives a dual display and maybe it uses a combined display cable, and I am wondering if this 40 pin IDC can be split into two 20 pin IDCs for two displays??? I have been trying to find a unit to use the above meter on, but have had no luck. I think it is CHAMI. Now I also have CHAMII+'s but I am missing the displays!     ALL MISC PARTS AND NO COMPLETES!

Do you or anyone else have instrucions or other data for this IGT progressive unit??? I wonder if I can get it going??? Thanks to all in advance for any help they can provide!

PS is power designs corp PHX AZ. 40005392 is either the M/N or S/N. inp 47-63Hz 90-250VAC 2-0.7A 125W max
output: 12.0VDC@8AMS 96 W max. D/C: 9546

PCB ASSY NO 7550720 @1994 IGT It says SPECTRUM there as well so I assume it is a spectrum controller?
It also has a sticker: 755-072-02 A 0300 Paradise, RWK
U35 eprom is M27c256B-90B1, labelled SD0094 03/03/98 (1-256) @IGT L98-1463
U34 is empty/missing
It has an 8 position dip switch on board.

Seller stated in listing: This is a stand-alone progressive unit for an IGT S+ slot machine. This unit was taken from a working machine and looks to be in excellent condition. What you see in the picture is everything that is included; the power supply, the board with eprom, ribbon cable and the other needed cables as shown in the picture. These are very difficult to find and this is the only one I have so bid accordingly. Winning bidder pays $8 S+H. Thank you for looking and Good Luck!

Here are a couple pictures. I hope it helps to get this unit working.... I have not tested anything yet for fear of messing it up. By the way I think I have a glass that it would fit in, but I do not have the display meters! Go figure always almost all the way there!!!

I believe you have the IGT controller for the display shown below.  There was another one on Ebay recently.  The picture showed the large ribbon cable with two ribbon header connectors (daisy chained) for the two displays.  This would require IGT type displays and would not be compatible with Mikohn hardware.  So, no, I don't think you can split the ribbon down to smaller connectors.

From the picture, you will also notice there is only one Eprom.  So, you empty socket should not be an issue.

Opps!  Forgot the picture the first time

FYI

A photon display is the earlier 7 Segment Numerals only type Meter (progressive display).  It would only display Numbers - no text. No scrolling, just counting up numbers.  I think they were made in both the in-machine type as well as the large signs.

This makes me think that Nevada Barry, has now junked the 3 signs he had a while back.  I asked him if they had any boards or displays in them and never got an answer back.
