Upper LCD on WMS BBII going black. Mostly Kristel LCD. Have replaced the A/D Board and inverter boards on several and still have no screen.
Anyone have any suggestions?
The inverter boards are sometimes burnt clear thru...
Could I be looking at shorted CCFl's?

CCFL's would be a possible culprit.  i've also seen the cpu cause top and bottom screen blackouts but i don't think you'd have a burnt inverter if the cpu was the problem.  are the Kristels out of warranty?

Most are over 1 year some nearly 2 years old. We have LCD's in some of the oldest and they are Wells Gardner and no problem at all.
They went out of warranty in 90 days after purchase. Some of the units will come back up after replacing the inverter bd. but the majority stay black. CCFL's on some don't seem to be burnt on either end, I do not have any way to test just them. If someone has built a test unit that will work on different size CCFL's let me know.

Will do, I keep searching different sites hopefully one day I will be able to find all the items that I need.
I've been doing electronic work going on 26 years and things really advance quickly.
I have some implemented many cost saving changes at our casino and can pass them on if anyone is interested.

The problem with them is air flow if there still black I have found that the main power supply has been the culprit.  you have to order the inverters from WMS according to happ Kristel will only sell that to them.
